I didn't know about this book until I saw on "2020 in Goodreads" posts of my friends and that's a shame! This is a great story! Surely, it is similar to a couple of other books but the way the story is told is unique!

A home isn’t always the house we live in. It’s also the people we choose to surround ourselves with.

I had seen this novel posted all over Instagram and decided to give it a try after a friend recommended it. I am not into fantasy normally, but I am glad I took a chance on this one and I was not disappointed at all.

The tale is slightly dystopian with removing children from their families owing to their "unnaturalness" and then completely forgetting about them. The orphanages are routinely visited by government officials and their fate alone with the children hinges on the subsequent reports.
While this "Oliver Twist" treatment of the children is unpalatable, the story of this book is anything but that

I don't know where to start with how much I love this book. I sort of knew what to expect, but not really, it turned out. The less you know going in, the better! I'll say that this book had me howling with laughter, getting happy-weepy, heartbreak-weepy, and falling head over heels for a (seemingly) bureaucratic caseworker, a kindly orphanage master, and six amazing children, who are unlike any characters I've ever encountered. I was surprised throughout, and was physically yearning for the char
