What Members Thought

I will admit I dragged my heels on reading this one for a while. I heard so many mixed reviews. (And also because I knew that they were going to talk about drugs a lot.) However, my book club chose it for their August discussion, so I decided to dive right in.
I liked the simplistic feel of it being set in the 1970s. The characters were definitely interesting. I probably should have done this as an audio book, so I could listen to the songs, but maybe I'll check it out that way someday, just to ...more

Glad I gave the audiobook version a try.

4.5 stars. Taylor Jenkins Reid is quickly becoming one of my top 5 authors. Her storytelling is just such a unique talent. Daisy Jones & The Six is written like a Rolling Stone expose or a (revealing my age in 3...2...1...) Vh1 Behind the Music episode. It's crazy to think this band is fictional. This was a bit of a slow start for me but once Daisy Jones and The Six' stories merge, the story really picks up. Before, it is a lot of baseline important information BUT once the two stories merge, the characters really come alive. It starts to feel almost like reading a script for a movie and I can so vividly see these people and the rationale behind their actions. Also I loved the song lyrics at the end but I wish there was a Spotify playlist.

I really enjoyed this book. It was so well written that I had to keep reminding myself that it was fiction and the band didn't really exist.
