What Members Thought

The first book in the series left me with many questions and I happened to already have the second as I'd bought it on a cheap deal previously so was able to dive straight in. Seeing from the blurb that it was set in the Southern Reach itself I had high hopes for learning more about Area X, what it is and where it came from. Sadly I was rather disappointed.

I'm having trouble deciding what to think about this book. I liked Annihilation and was curious for more of the mystery to be solved. So as John Rodriguez, aka "Control" (not the only ironic name), goes to work at the Southern Reach I had high hopes. There are so many times I'd think I was about to learn something, but then it ended up only being an unsatisfying snippet. Otherwise, there's a lot of office politics.
