I do remember that I’ve read this book before, but it was so long ago I didn’t recall a thing.
It’s amazing how assured this mystery was, as if the Poirot series had immediately emerged fully formed. It’s got all the things you expect from a country house murder, with red herrings and pining young couples aplenty, Poirot being mystifying yet sympathetic and Hastings being, well, Hastings (did we NEED Hastings? I generally enjoy Christie's mysteries (for the writing and characters if nothing else) but I dislike her habit of unfairly withholding crucial information until the very end. As the reader (and potential solver) I like to unravel the mystery before the end of the book.

A fun novel. I really like Agatha Christie.

On the second read though I found a lot more clues that Poirot pointed out. But, of course, it’s hard to gather all of the details.
