So good. Definitely reading the next in the series. Interesting characters and fun, fantasy themes. The author develops his characters and the reader (at least this reader) begins to care about them and their future. In a world where different isn't appreciated, this book embraces peculiar and encourages the reader to do the same. ...more

This was a great book and I can't wait to begin Hollow City also by Ransom Riggs. I loved all Jacob's new friends and their special abilities. ...more

This novel was absolutely amazing. It was not what I expected. It was so much better. I was expecting it to be scary and creepy and it was a little bit, but mostly it was a phenomenally well-written fantasy novel that I look forward to continuing the series after.

It was very well written. You felt for the boy being torn between sanity and reality and possibility of more. His love of his grandfather, his want for the truth. The pictures really add to the story in regards to the peculiars.
