This is the book I chose for the 2016 popsugar reading challenge. Book, Red Queen, and its prequel, Cruel Crown.

5 stars

Very good book. Nice to see Cal again.

So, this book was something else. I felt that this book dragged in certain places and moved quickly through others. A lot of the dialogue felt contrived and unnatural, especially during the whole “I hope you’ll be queen”. That truly came out of nowhere.

I won’t deny the fact that I skimmed through the book. The plot felt like easy to decipher; I figured out the traitor immediately. Granted, I have to know how it ends and I’ll finish out the series anyway.

The ending moved way faster than the rest of the novel, but it made the last 100 pages worth it. I have no idea how the next one is supposed to pull all this together, but I'm looking forward to finding out. ...more
