It had so much potential. I think it's just too long. It got very repetitive in the middle.

88432 I finally finished The Luminous Dead. I almost abandoned it about halfway through. I probably should have. It was a bit disappointing.

Note: Em and Isolde are mother and daughter and a huge part of the story, but if they have a last name, I missed it.

Totally fine. 😊

88432 Also, I have an uncharacteristic three days off this week. I can claim task 13 on the mini because I'm very close to finishing my current two books.

I have The Last Thing He Told Me here to read and I think the main character makes hand-crafted furniture for a living.

88432 I finished Up to No Gouda and put it on the spreadsheets.

Last year, when my brain needed a break, a friend recommended this book to me.

Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson

The premise is ridiculous and there's a lot of swearing, but it was the perfect "lose yourself" read for me.

I hope next week is better!

88432 Character name question...
If the book says something like "Dr. Gerald Brown and his wife Elaine were in for the adventure of a lifetime..."

Would you assume Elaine's last name was Brown? I wouldn't in real life, but maybe for fiction it's ok?

Am I overthinking again? 😂🤣

I've been trying to pay attention since this was brought up. I've been surprised at how often we don't get a last name in fiction.

88432 Finished.

Dishing the Dirt (Agatha Raisin, #26) by M.C. Beaton

88432 I'm still embarrassed that I started and finished a book right before the mini started. 🤦

You are so right. I completely forgot the mini hadn't even started yet. So yeah...it doesn't count. Oops!

88432 I'm getting really bored with The Luminous Dead, but I'm over halfway done and I've heard it picks up toward the end, so I guess I'll try to hang in there.

88432 I just added Dear Santa to the spreadsheet. Wasn't planning to read it, but it was short and within arm's reach. :) I'm almost done with Dishing the Dirt.

I wasn't sure what to fill in for the mini. We can use books for both the regular hands AND the mini, right?

For 27. "character has a pet" category, both Dishing the Dirt (Agatha has two cats) and Dear Santa (the Charmichaels have a dog) work.

The MC in Dear Santa works in Seattle (connection to a city) and fits for #9 - it has four colors on the cover.
Dear Santa by Debbie Macomber

For 31. Agatha (Dishing the Dirt) visits several neighbors.

Soo...whatever you think might be hardest to fill in. :)

88432 Looks fun! Any thoughts on if we prefer small town or big city for the categories at the end?

No preference here. I'm currently reading three books. One is set in a fantasy world, one is in a small village, and the last one is in Paris.

88432 I just saw in the Q & A that if you start a book in February, but don't finish until March, you can count it for March! I always thought March books had to be read entirely in March and April book entirely in April. So...I still don't have the rules down either!
