Also, keep your tissues/handkerchief ready. ;)
The two official color cards that we have in our hands and still need to complete:4 Green
6 Green
We also have two Wild Draw 4 cards to complete, which can be any of the color cards (except 6 Yellow, since we already used that for one Wild Draw 4!) So, we have to choose 2 out of 7 color cards - not too bad!
Easiest way to do this: Read Green cover books - can be used to fill all 4 slots!
P.S. If you read a Yellow, that will also count as long as there is a 4 (F) and a 9 (N) that can be used.
P.P.S. I have a 4 Yellow book I am reading for the Locked Room Mini task, so that can be counted here.
Robynne wrote: "How do these wild cards work. Do we have to read a book with the exact same colour and number as the cards we already have?"Wild
Read a book that can fit for any of the cards in that SAME hand (i.e. you are duplicating one of the cards in that same hand)
Wild draw four
Read a book that can fit for any of the coloured cards you have that month (i.e. you are duplicating one of your coloured cards. Each coloured card can only be duplicated once)
We do need a 4 Green and a 6 Green, plus there are two other Wild Draw 4 cards which could be any of the other color cards we have had this month. So, we are still going to need 4 color cards to complete the month.
Don't forget that we also have 3 Wild Draw 4's which means reading 3 more color cards from any of our color cards from this month.

Robynne, does this book for any other of the mini challenge tasks?
Vicki wrote: "
Psycho II is posted for the mini #A38 but it can also work for #29 when Norman breaks out of the psych ward he goes to Hollywood to commit more murders."Vicki, I plan on using this for #29, where the character moves - because we already have a book featuring a hospital in the "connect" tasks. While a psyche ward is technically different, I don't want the mods to question anything.
Vicki wrote: "Apoorv and others, would you say this would work for "a kind of furniture or decor piece on the cover" for the mini-challenge?
"I would say a big wall clock (or any size one for that matter) is a piece of furniture.
Edit: Definition of furniture according to TheFreeDictionary, "The movable articles in a room or an establishment that make it fit for living or working." This fits in that case!

Carrie, does this book work for the Feb Mini challenge, in any way?
Robynne wrote: "Apoorv or Gwen - NOOO You have to complete the hands in numerical order.
You cannot complete hand 9 until all the other hands are done first!!
Those are the rules!! "
Robynne, your interpretation is not wrong at all - but that applies at the end of a given month if we are unable to complete all our hands.
For instance, if we read all our books for hands 1-8, skip hand 9 (since one entire hand skip is allowed), read for hand 10 partially and then complete hand 11 - hand 11 will not be counted because 10 was not completed before we jumped.
As of now, all the incomplete hands are in play because we haven't reached the end of the month and have a chance to complete all the remaining gaps in the next 2 weeks.
If at the end, if we are lagging any books - I will move them to fit things better sequentially.
For now, we are good to continue! The goal remains to fill all 15 hands, so none of this becomes an issue. :)
Anne wrote: "Edit: Actually, it does have a prison in it - a rather gruesome prison. Would we want that in our city?"Ideally, we would want our hypothetical city to have no crime at all - thereby no criminals i.e. no prisons - but this seems like too good a book to miss. So, I am adding it. Thanks for checking it, Anne! :)

Anne, does this book work for the Feb Mini challenge in any way?
Gwen wrote: "In my searching through the text, I found that Moon Over Manifest will work for #10 as it mentions both earth and water:Page 84: "Just what she figured on planting in that parched ..."
That totally works. Added it to task 10.
Thanks for digging up the appropriate text, :)
Gwen wrote: "Apoorv wrote: Gwen, is the train featured in the book a cargo train? If it is a passenger train, I don't think it may work for task #5 which specifically asks for a cargo vehicle in the text.Sorr..."
That would absolutely work. If you could find the specific texts that says any of that, we can totally use that! :)
Gwen wrote: "This book works for #5 of the Mini Challenge as trains feature prominently in the story. The girl on the front cover (Abilene Tucker) is even walking on the train tracks' rail."Gwen, is the train featured in the book a cargo train?
If it is a passenger train, I don't think it may work for task #5 which specifically asks for a cargo vehicle in the text.
NOTE
The books that can be used for the Mini Challenge have to be finished after 9am UTC on Feb, 14th.
Here is the countdown for that.

Notifications are horribly broken, so I apologize if I am a little delayed in replying to any questions.
Robynne wrote: "43 percent yellow for that Picture Perfect frame? Are you sure it isn't 53%. Its gotta be more than 50%. Also can someone check the members page. I have read 7 books, not 9 books. I think someon..."
Robynne, it definitely is more yellow than that for sure, but that is the number TinEye gave me (the good thing is we DO NOT need to use TinEye, so I am super glad, but I just wanted to add a reference to that link incase the mods had any questions!) We should be good though!
Also, don't worry about the numbers on the member page. I have set it to count the "Draw 2's" as well, since it helps me check up the final tally, so these are the card-specific numbers - but they don't mean much apart from that. If you really want to check though, the member info tab in the tracking spreadsheet will show the more book-specific numbers.
Update
Our tracking spreadsheet is updated with a new tab for the Feb Mini tasks.
If you want, feel free to go ahead and claim tasks on there.
Just your name and the link to the book should suffice - I can take it from there. :)
If you are claiming a spot, but would not be able to get to it, please change your selection, so that the team knows which tasks are open and need to be worked on well in time.
Also, if you're making a completion post here - I would absolutely appreciate if you could list all the tasks in the mini challenge your book would work for - that way, if I need to move books around towards the end, it should be easier.
I'm already getting super excited for this! :D
Let's go build a home! :)
