Ah! That unfortunately wouldn't work since it is not a specific place the story takes place in. A workshop is generic and for this we need a place like Paris, New York etc. :(
Anne wrote: "Apoorv,How are we doing on the mini? I can’t figure it out from the spreadsheet.
How many more of each group do we need?"
Anne, here is where we are with the Mini Challenge.
- Section 1 - 9 / 10 complete
- Section 2 - 4 / 10 complete
- Section 3 - 6 / 10 complete
- Section 4 - 6 / 10 complete
Plus we have 5 more to complete, and my recommendation is to add those 5 in Section 4, because that is worth double the points.
In short, we have 20 more books left to complete the entire mini challenge.
Update
For the Mini, we need to have atleast 10 tasks completed in all 4 categories with the remaining 5 tasks distributed any way we deem fit, I would recommend to have them in Category 4 which helps us double our points, so lets keep our eyes peeled for any W, Q, or Xs. in all the books you read from now on.
Also, we still have to get a 0 Green and 7 Green in our regular hands. For Category 4 bonus points we need X Green and W Yellow.
In addition, our biggest remaining card bucket is Reverse, so while posting completions, let's take a second to see if any of our teammates have read the book previously (assuming they are your friends, you can see them in the "friend reviews" section of the books home page.) If you see any book posted here that was read by you, please point it out, so it can be captured as such.
Off to stalk everyone's bookshelves now! :P
Anne wrote: "Apoorv,I also have a W book with a blue cover.
The Consequences of Fear by Jacqueline Winspear

Zero - stand alone
2 - Au..."
We can use the W as part of Section 4.
But, the cover color is not going to be useful because we don't have a 2 Blue card. So, if you have other books to prioritize, I would say go for them and keep this for April.
The only color cards that we can use and double our points for the Mini are.
- 2 Yellow aka W Yellow
- 6 Blue aka X Blue
- 6 Green aka X Green
Val wrote: "not that I found on first review - but I'll look again. :)"X's are rare! I hope there is a random character named Xavier somewhere. :p
Vicki wrote: "I just posted
which is 80.4% blue and the author is Diana Xarissa, but I didn't see blue in the dropdown list."It wont be in that drop down, we can use it as part of Section 4 of the Mini - where we can replace S with X, so 6 Blue (aka S Blue) will be X Blue i.e. 60 points! :D
Vicki wrote: "Apoorv, do you think this would work for classic cover?
"That actually would wonderfully work for the "fantasy painting" prompt - assuming we consider dragons as phantasmagorical beings. (my pet pterodactyl disagrees, but you know! :P)
Val, is there any reference to anything
X
in The Tobacco Wives? With its Blue cover, we can use that for 6 Blue and get 60 points! Please say Yes! *fingers crossed*
Quick Update. Our tracking spreadsheet has a "Mar Mini" tab, so feel free to put up your applicable books there if you want.
Robynne wrote: "Hi ApoorvI am still around - despite a very glitchy PC....
Just a reminder for Hand 7 - the 1 Card - Character - his name was OTTO Frank - NOT Otte - He was the father of Anne Frank.
Thanks. ..."
Thanks for checking in, Robynne!
Hope your PC starts to behave very soon. If getting online seems difficult because of it, you can just update the spreadsheet with details and I can take from there. No worries!
Otte is now Otto! :)
Carrie wrote: "Mini - White Text on CoverSS: I updated the SS (but I placed it at the bottom of the sheet where the books are checked off instead of the top). If I need to change it, please let me know"
Don't worry about this one, but continue placing your completed books on the top like always - that way when I move them down, I get to double check them and make sure I don't miss any of our books.
Also, the Mini Challenge starts from the 15th, so this wouldn't count, unfortunately! :(
HELLOW!Quick update.
I am thinking of opening up our 2 Yellow, 6 Blue, and 6 Green cards which we have previously filled to cash in the double points as part of the Mini Challenge.
But, before I do that, we ofcourse need to search for W Yellow, X Blue, and X Green, which may not be the easiest thing. So off to scavenging we go! :)
Anne wrote: "By the way, what are the rules for using authors’ names when they publish using initials for first names? In other words, is it O.K. to use P.D. James as a skip?"
That is correct. P.D. James will work for the letter P thereby for Card Skip.

MARCH MINI IS HERE!!
OMG! OMG! This is going to be so much fun!
Rush. Run. Scram. to the link.
We are going to have a great time decorating our house!!
Let's Gooooooo!

Out of the books other team members have read, are there any books that intrigued you and you are keen to get your hands on?So, I have realized that I don't read the same kind of books as the rest of the team. I tend to go more to romance as my go to but last month I had to read some weird books to work with some challenges. This month, I'm trying to get my romance books back in with some odd ones tossed in. I would probably say Rock Paper Scissors that Carrie read only because it's on my TBR when I get a random thriller/mystery task.."
YES! This was a scintillating thriller. If that is not your regular genre of choice, this book might be a good change of pace because it most certainly will keep you hooked.
Reading that you read more romances, reminded me that I need to get to The Love Hypothesis soon - it keeps staring at me everyday at home, and I quietly promise to get to it soon. It's going to get mad now! :p
Robynne wrote: "Apoorv wrote: "QUESTION TIME - We have collectively as a team read about 120 books so far (which is amaaaazing, if you ask me!). So, can you answer these questions amongst all of the books that you..."Ooo... how was that transition from one hemisphere to the other? Sounds rather intriguing. It must have been an adjustment in general, given how even the seasons are diagonally opposite across the two hemispheres.
Also, a prop up to The Song of Achilles - gorgeous book! Hope you get to read it soon. :)
Gwen wrote: "2. I am quite intrigued by "Razorblade Tears" even though I haven't looked up what it's about yet. I just love the title and it seems to be highly recommended."You HAVE TO read this one, Gwen! It is not necessarily an easy read, but it is absolutely heartfelt. The mystery isn't necessarily the best part of the book, but the character sketch was prime!
Val wrote: "Apoorv wrote: "QUESTION TIME3. Out of all the books read, which title seems a good contender for the title of your autobiography?
The Story Seeker"
Ah! You got the prime title. Love it.
Also, one of the other members in one of my physical bookclubs was talking about The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot and how see loved it. So, this is two recommendations in two days - I am super intrigued now! :)
Carrie wrote: "Apoorv,Did I mention I read a lot of horror? lol"
I LOVE Horror. Now, I am all the more keen to see if you have any favourite nasty characters. Haha!
Also, I am going to go stalk your bookshelves for my next favourite book. :P
