8565 So Aiken, SC and Augusta, GA both have declared states of emergency for their communities. Libraries closed in both cities. Guess I will finally have to read the books I own as well as the many Kindle free books that I have downloaded.

I reworked my JRI Blind Date list and planned alternatives that I own.

My AirBnB guest states that the hospital is on lock-down with only ED accepting patients. (She works in the lab.)

It is getting real, folks.

Tien, last Monday, I had my 6 month f/u with my PCP and I asked him if there was anything more that I needed to do that I was not doing regarding my guests and health. Basically, he said to continue with what I am doing. And, I disinfect well between guests. It helps to be an old nurse. I know how to do this stuff. :)

8565 Panic buying has been going on here (SC) for about 2 weeks. I am a bit more philosophical about it all as I have what I need and I don't really have the space or inclination to stockpile.

Our governor closed all schools yesterday and limited any gatherings to 100 or less, but I think that will change soon. I expect the library systems to close; but so far, both that I use are still open. The only other things on my agenda are the planned camping trip...so far the campground is open (social isolation is possible)...and the play (but I expect the theatre will close, also.)

It is a day by day thing for me. I have made plans, and I will consider keeping them if the option is available to me...and if it does not put others at risk.

BTW, I am one of the elderly...but a healthy one.

8565 Alternative planning done. Now, I don't know whether to hope the library closes so I can get books I own read or not!

8565 I like Coralie's idea of planning alternatives.

I just checked my local library for availability of the two that I haven't started yet (#15 and #1). Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption is checked out of all branches so it is on hold. (It was checked out the last time I looked for it also...so it may be awhile before I get this one.) The Deepest Water is available through interlibrary loan. If my library stays open, this is a possibility.

8565 I think I have most things I need...and lots of projects to do here at home. However, I am an AirBnB host and currently have a guest for this week. She works in the local hospital lab and will be coming and going.

There are a few events on my calendar...discussion group at the library, a play at the local theater...that have not cancelled yet, but I expect that will happen this week.

And, I am planning my first camping trip in a couple of weeks!

So, I am taking it day to day as far as the schedule is concerned...and just watching for the cancellations.

BTW, Jayme, schools are cancelled in SC.

8565 Well, nine on my list are owned books, but only one of those numbers has been drawn. With this pandemic, the chances are the local libraries will be closing for a span of time, so any library books on my list will need to wait - especially if they are not in the local library itself.

Here are 3 picks for you:

So Much Pretty
Ahab's Wife, or The Star-Gazer
Choiring Of The Trees"

Thanks for the quick picks, Angela. I will go with Choiring Of The Trees, since I own it and it is on my JRI plan. Thanks for the push to get one of my owned books done!

8565 For some reason, since my brother-in-law died, I have been slower with my reading...and we were not close at all. I feel a bit like the faster I go, the slower I went...if you can understand that. :)

8565 Hi, all. Visiting here from Australia and have landed on Playa Santa Cantalina. May I have 3 choices for my visit here from my shelf?

I am not sure than anyone else is doing it other than me, Marina. And, since I read so much in this genre, I am choosing to limit my nomination of shelves to those I read for this group.

The Kreutzer Sonata for MM

8565 I read Life or Death by Michael Robotham. I gave it 4*.

It is not the usual felon claiming he did not do the crime. In fact, Audie took a deal stating that he did the crime. But, he didn't. The reader learns the back story of Audie's life through his remembrances. And, through the questions that others ask about why he escaped a day before he was due to be released.

This story is about a good man who experiences life as a battle to just stay alive. And, it is about a love...an everlasting love and a promise.
