There might be some risk ; but I suspect it would be doubly informative. Give it a whirl.

Vollmanniacs --> spread the word!! Worth every penny.

"...so we began corresponding and talking on the phone about possible stories. Is there some kind of lesbian commune or maybe a marijuana encampment in the North Bay, he asked. Probably, but I don't think I could grant you access."

Blessed are the RURD-less schmucks, for they shall be RURD'd. [happy to help!]

Nicely done.

I know I've seen v4 listed individually (printing problems, I suspect, as my copy has). And v7 (the MC) I don't think is all that terribly outrageously valuable ;; takes about two hours to read ; mostly a summing of the presentation in v1-4.

Missing vol 4 and vol 7. Other 5 books are in good condition. All sales benefit the library."
It's not quite what you want, but it sounds like a better abridgment than the other one ::

I've been trying to compile stuff in the Uncollected Vollmann thread ::

The other valuable resource is Michael Hemmingson's [RIP] William T. Vollmann: An Annotated Bibliography (2012) which I hope to expand and create a corriegenda for. Unfortunately, it's pricey.
Generally speaking, since the birth of his daughter, he's been doing much less war reporting, so there may not be a lot of relevant material to add to RURD ; even though a few pieces collected in RURD stretch their relatedness. The other possibility you mention, a part two to Expelled, would be great. I don't know if McCaffery has plans to produce one though. He's retired and said that he's pretty much done with his interview work. But fingers crossed that he's still got his finger on the pulse of Vollmann's productivity.

b) people in these parts need those copies!
c) a new edition is seriously needed. A reprint is insufficient.
d) people in these parts need those copies!
e) auction off that archive to finance a second edition.
f) people in these parts need those copies!
g) at least get them into research libraries.
h) One more time with feeling ;: PEOPLE IN THESE PARTS NEED THOSE COPIES!

Indeed pretty cool.
