749599 It would appear that I'm actually joining this BR. I started the book this morning while going to the bus station, so far I listened only to the Prologue and I'm intrigued, I'll have to skim it again to actually see how people are named 😅
749599 I read only the first two chapters.

At first I liked the writing, but when the dialogue came 😬 The dialogue was cringy, and just basic.

I read City of Bones but that was a long long long long long time ago so *shrugs* but thinking of things I know about it, the series, I see it now too :D

I don't have a specific book in mind. Well maybe I do, but I don't feel like Obsidian reminds me of this.. it's just the feeling I got. Since Obsidian was 😬 cringy and basic 😂
749599 Yes, Poirot has a high opinion of himself, but the reason I don't dislike him because of that is that his high opinion is justified; he really gets things and solves cases, while Hastings... he thinks he solved it and he didn't even scratch the surface.

I read The Kidnapped Prime Minister and I don't know if it was because I only listened to it while traveling or what, but this story was flat for me. Didn't care for it.

749599 I finished chapter 7 and I'm liking it a lot. It gives me older fantasy books from 10ish years ago vibes and I love that. I hope I'll be able to listen to it more tomorrow because I'm curious.

Noup, no pity from me.. I really don't like the dude. And in this first story he's exactly how he was in the first two books.. I don' remember the books, but I remember being super annoyed by him.
749599 The Adventure of “The Western Star”

“You really have the best opinion of yourself of anyone I ever knew!” I cried, divided between amusement and annoyance.

I find this kinda ironic since I think Hastings is the one having the best opinion of himself always thinking he knows best.

Ah, here it is :)

I felt a desire to rise to the occasion. Why not? In Poirot’s presence I have frequently felt a difficulty—I do not appear at my best. And yet there is no doubt that I, too, possess the deductive sense in a marked degree. I leant forward on a sudden impulse.

As the part under the table in Points sheet states "*Category and Page totals may differ from individual player points"

Did you already finish Atari Affair, Nintendo Trial and Playstation Pursuit by yourself? Because the Points sheet shows individual points for categories.

Of course :D Welcome. At this point, we've been slacking off and didn't follow the plan 😅 I didn't read much, only two stories and you can see which ones since I checked them as done.
