73030 Anna, Kelly - Ouch! I feel for you both! At least the best thing about being hurt is that you get to catch up on a fair bit of reading. I've been stuck in bed all day with a bad back and trapped sciatic nerve but I finally got around to reading Bossypants.

73030 Kay - I will be totally with you in discussing I very soon. I always have one show I watch by myself and one I watch with my girlfriend. I just have to finish season two of the Borgias and them I'm all over Game of Thrones!

73030 Yea, I'm quite clumsy and the ice really doesn't help. I sprained it as a kid and it never healed properly so it sprains really easy now. I once sprained it by tripping over nothing but my feet in a perfectly tidy bedroom!

73030 Those flowers are beautiful Anna.

I like the colours that come with autumn but most of that has already happened in Scotland.

Now all I have to look forward to is brief bits of snow followed by lots of slush. That's probably the worst thing about living in a city, the snow goes to slush pretty quickly and then it just becomes a sloppy dangerous nightmare. Last winter I sprained the same wrist twice on the ice.

73030 It is freezing in Glasgow, Scotland. It doesn't help that I live in a really old building which means my flat is impossible to heat. Does give me an excuse to stay in bed all weekend though!

73030 Me and my girlfriend are torn between Evil Willow and Dead Tara, Batwoman and Renee Monata, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn or Paige and Emily as Marlene Dietrich and Barbarella. Decisions, decisions.

I think I'll probably take your advice on this one, I borrowed them all from a college friend and was enjoying it more a few trades ago. I'm not totally caught up yet, just finished the Life Among Them arc. I'll definitely continue reading them but probably not buying the singles. The friend I got them from also only has up to issue 90 which sucks because the way my insomnia is going I'll have these all wrapped up by the end of tonight.

73030 As I am new to the wonderful world of comics I don't have a pull list yet. I am heading down to my local store as soon as my girlfriend gives in and let's me have one.

I'm thinking my first additions will be Saga and The Walking Dead. I'm quite interested to see what the Willow mini-series that starts next month will look like too so will probably add that too (even though I'm not sure it counts because it won't go on for every month).

Other than that I think I will be adding more with each comic I get in to, I've just got my hands on Witch Doctor, enjoying it so far but not sure if I'm enjoying it enough though.

I was hardly taking your comments personally, I just felt that like a lot of old school DW fans it was all Moffat criticism and very little appreciation for the things he's achieved.

So many people seem to think RTD was the ultimate god of the new DW and are far too quick to hate Moffat for going where he's gone. As for RTD having more heart, this is the idiot that thought abandoning Rose in an alternate dimension and killing Ianto Jones were good ideas. (As hard as I try I can't forgive him for Ianto and I might always be bitter about it)

I do agree that the RTD era was better and that Moffat's episodes are a their best when they were written under RTD but I honestly can't thnk of anyone more qualified to have taken over the show when RTD chose to step down.

I have so much respect for RTD's work both on DW and outwith it, I have never watched an LGBT character he has written and not fallen in love with them. I also think Moffat does this so well, instead of it being all loud and proud the way it is with characters like Jack, he normalises it. His doctor has referenced the fact that sexuality is fluid in Gallifrey more than once and Shakespeare was also bisexual, there was also the adorable Victorian lesbian couple.

My favourite companion/doctor mix has alway been Donna Noble and Tennant. I found Donna to be well written but the second of the new companions that had a rubbish ending. Honestly the only companion's ending I respected was Martha, which is saying a lot as she was my least favourite.

As for villians I used to find the Daleks thrilling but have begun to grow bored with them, while I think the episode missed the mark a bit I did think that the Dalek's Asylum episode was good in it's portrayal of scared Dalek's. I found them going in there terrifying knowing that even the Daleks were scared! Other than that brief terror I think they've just been used too much.
I don't really like the Cybermen but it is freaky knowing that anyone you love could be one. I thought the Master was fantastic! Brilliantly acted and just wonderful.

Moffat's legacy will probably be the Ponds. His doctor isn't brilliant (I'm not saying I don't like Matt Smith, I LOVE him I just don't think he was written as well as the previous ones. It is a testament to his acting abilities that he makes this doctor lovable) but maybe that's because I miss it when the doctor's past tortured him. I also don't think you could have gotten away with the doctor sitting around Martha's house for months without it just being boring.

I loved Rory but not at first, at first I genuinely thought Moffat was going to make Amy abandon him for the doctor and I would be sitting on the hating him side if he had. I think Rory's character developed wonderfully. I also think Moffat captured Scottish girls really well with Amy, I don't know if any of you have spent a lot of time with us wonderful Scots but we really are that sarcastic and bitchy.

Sorry for the rambling!

73030 When I first saw this topic I was all "yay! Somewhere I can geek out with fellow Doctor Who lovers" much to my dismay it has actually just turned out to be a Moffat bitch sesh.

One of my Twitter feed pet hates is when people bang on about how shit Doctor Who has turned out to be, stop watching then!

Yes Moffat is no RTD but you know what? RTD was pretty crap at times as well. The show is still a bloody good laugh and enjoyable every week which is all I'm looking for from the show.

And as for weeping angel complaints, I find them by far the scariest thing they've encountered because statues are scary, he plays on something we see every day and made it thrilling and creepy. The most recent angel episode was meh and I'm not happy with the Rory/Amy ending but at least my favourite ever DW ship stayed together.

I can't remember the actual complaints but phrases like 'gratuitous' and 'over the top' spring to mind. Personally it was my second favourite place after the rocket ship tree!

73030 I agree with Lela about the swearing. But then again I am the type who finds herself swearing more than the average person. I also think it had the perfect first page of any comic I think I've ever picked up.

I think the art is beautiful and I loved reading the letters, I like when BKV said he had received more complaints from men over the Sextillion drawings than from women.

73030 I loved Saga. I agree with you about The Stalk, it was a beautifully and creepily drawn character.
I was hooked from the first page and find the concept interesting, it helps that I was always a big Star Wars fan!
I like that Hazel narrates the series however Izabel has to be my favourite character.

73030 I'm only just getting into Marvel too. I was told to start with the Road to Civil War. Sometimes it gets a little confusing but if you have a general idea of who Marvel characters are then you can figure it out. It involves the Avengers, Spiderman, Fantastic Four and many others!

I'm enjoying it so far.
