61281 We had a list up of an order, and I'm about five stories in. There's a discussion up for it, whenever you want to jump in. (:

61281 One can never have enough books! (:

61281 Lillian, Fifty Shades is hard core erotica fiction. From what my friends have told me, bondange erotica at that. I mean, it depends on who you are, but I'm steering clear of it entirely, and I don't think it's suitable for high school ages.

I'm reading a truckload!
The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey The Crucible by Arthur Miller
The Fellowship of the Ring by JRR Tolkein
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
The Crucible by Arthur Miller.

I've had to put LotR on hold for the other two, which are for school. Ugh, this is why I can't stand reading more than one book at a time! I keep confusing what's happening in Miller with what's happening in Kesey! Hopefully I don't forget everything in Fellowship by the time I'm able to get back to it!

61281 Denise, you don't have to participate in every group/buddy read. (: We'll probably do The Book Theif AND Poe at the same time, and you can jump on board with what you'd like! (:

61281 Just started guys! I can finally jump in on the discussions with you! (:

Though this is a reread, technically, but all the same. (:

61281 City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5) by Cassandra Clare
City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare.

AND
The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway
The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway (for English)!

Loving both. (:

61281 I love this book! I read it a couple years ago for English! It's just wonderful! You will have to let me know how you like it!

61281 I have a VCR, too! Even though I own most Disney movies on DVD, I'll still watch them on the VCR just for fun. (:

To be honest, we just have a blu ray player upstairs so we can ge to Netflix on it! (: And the one downstairs is only because the PS3 reads blu rays! We still just generally buy DVDs, but since RotK was missing the second disc, we decided just to buy the whole set. (: (In reality, they're like, the ONLY blu ray movies we own!)

Denise, some of the special features on fun! It was either on a special feature or on a blooper somewhere online that I saw this; you know when Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli find those Orc remains burning and think Merry and Pippin burned, too? Aragorn kicks a helmet a falls to his knees--they were doing that take for HOURS, trying to get it JUST right, and finally, during that final shot, when Viggo fell to his knees, the director praised him so much for throwing so much emotion into it. In reality, Viggo broke his toes against the helmet, but they went with that shot anyway. (:

61281 April, The Raven is not based on The Raven. It's set during the last few days of Poe's life and follows him and the Baltimore police and they try to track down a serial killer using Poe's stories as inspiration. And it was AMAZING. (Did I already mention that?) To be honest, I was kind of psyched every time I recognized one of the stories. (: John Cusack was a GREAT Poe, and it was just all around amazing. (: Definitely a good one for fans of Poe and have read a lot of his short stories!

61281 I have them on Blu-Ray! Extended and beautiful. (: Definitely one of the best Christmas presents EVER.

Although before we had the blu-ray versions, we just had them on DVD. When my friend and I had marathons then, we had to try and watch them on the TV; but since we'd lost disc two to Return of the King, we had to put it on the laptop (since I had copies on the computer for editing videos with) and project it onto a sheet--and lean in REAL close to the computer since the audio was so low. It's been interesting!

61281 Oh really? Well, you should see it as soon as it comes out! Good luck with getting to the Avengers! I've heard it's REALLY great; which makes me super happy, since I ended up being kind of disappointed with Thor.

61281 Haven't had a chance to see The Avengers yet. :/ (But to be honest, I'd rather see The Raven again if I had my pick!) But I think that's my Poe fangirl winning out over my Marvel fangirl. (:

61281 Since we were talking about Poe in the other group...I saw The Raven! *swoon* I'm officially on a Poe-fangirl streak. I have found myself unable to take off the necklace with his face on it my friend gave me. It was marvelous, in case you're wondering if you should go see it! (:
May 14, 2012 07:40PM

61281 The movies are around thirteen, if I choose to take ten minute breaks between each one. (: Trust me, I've had enough LotR marathons to count! How many all-nighters have I pulled in order to watch them all? (:

I'll also read the Book Theif! (:

Mortalcoil_99 wrote: "So since I'm new on this Poe and it sounds interesting which is why I want to start reading it, where should I start?"

I can't believe you hadn't heard of Poe! A couple years ago, my best friend bought me a necklace with one side showing a raven and the other side with a portrait of Poe himself. In fact, I'm wearing it now!

To get started, I'd suggest a couple poems, like The Raven, Annabel Lee, etc. As for short stories, I'd start with "The Tell Tale Heart" or "The Cask of Amontillado". Cask is my favorite of all Poe's stories. (:

61281 Speaking of Poe, I saw The Raven last night, the new thriller about Poe. It was AMAZING, except for a few life details they got wrong. But ahhhhhhh, I recognized all the murders in the movie! <3

Both were great! My mom and I had a mother-daughter read with that before we saw the movie together. (: They were awesome!

61281 I updated my list.
You guys have such short lists! Almost everything makes me cry!

(Although I plead the fifth with Thirteen Reasons Why. Who can read that book and NOT cry?)
