Max locked eyes with Jink for the question, who's grudging mood shifted the the back of his mind. He relayed Jink's thoughts to Bella, softly. "He says... We are brothers. Our bonds are stronger than the divide of our species. I... I am the only human he trusts. He left his homeland for me." He looked up at Bella again. "People tend to fear me because of him, like he's my pet, and I'll sic him on them. But I don't particularly care what people think."

XD You win. :))) And for Kyra, I was all like, "Hurry and find it!!! Any second someone's gonna come on and post it!" XD Good thing I have it bookmarked... Along with waaaaaay too many other bookmarks.

He shifted uncomfortably, but decided to play along. "Alright, then... Truth."

He ran a hand through his midnight hair with a sigh. "Oh... True or dare."

He looked at her a moment. "Um... Okay..."

WHEN'S YOUR BIRTHDAY?!

Oh, that's so pretty! :D My favorite when I was in gymnastics was this one I got for my birthday. It was night-sky dark blue with little silver sparkles. :)))

He shook his head, eyes fearful. "No. Please don't... Please don't say that. Bella, you... you have no idea..." He swallowed. "You're going to live. And then you'll be able to make your own choices. Your life is yours, but if you give up now-" His voice broke. "Let me keep you safe. I'll find a way to help you. I promise, I promise, I promise..." He trailed off in a desperate whisper.

His heart thudded, and he stroked her cheek. "Bella. I won't let you leave me." He tried to keep his voice from shaking.

His brow furrowed with concern. "Stop that. No one is ashamed of you. You didn't choose for this to happen. It's not your fault, and no one blames you for it. Don't think about that. Just rest, please Bella."

The panther stayed rooted to the spot, clenching his sharp teeth and resisting the urge to growl.
Max sighed, sitting on the edge of the bed. "Bella, you need to rest. I'll... I'll make you better, I promise."
