His brow furrowed with concern. He pulled her hair away from her perspiring face and murmured comforting words in her ear, letting a touch of his soothing drone sneak into his voice.
Arms around her, Max layed in the silent darkness, staring at the ceiling. He had to sleep. He needed the energy. He was used to keeping a close eye on the predicted phases of the moon, and tomorrow night it wouldn't be full, but extremely close. Another chance, but he had to do it tomorrow. I'm sorry, my Bella. He tried in vain to let sleep come.
Max nodded, eyes softening as he layed down beside her. He reached out and stroked her cheek gently.
{Aw, tanks. :D I've got a soft spot for love sick, heartbroken guys, as some could tell you.}Jink groaned internally, looking around at the many humans in distaste. Max's whole low-profile enigma was going completely out the window. He raced through the kitchen, catching up with the girl and gazing up at her. His back rose threateningly, and he bared his sharp teeth at her.
I won't let you die. I won't. He had already made his decision. Nothing she said would change his mind. Still, he didn't protest again, sitting in silence at the edge of her bed.
"It was draining, what I did." With every word, the pain in his eyes grew. So little time. "It took so much of me. And I didn't even cure you. I didn't have the strength." He spoke through the knot in his throat. "But the moon is full, and it gives me more energy. I can save you this time." He gently tipped her head up to look her in the eyes, to memorize her beautiful face. "I'll hold on long enough to get rid of the cancer. I'll make sure you're healthy before I..." His last words were a whisper. "Before I die."
Ducky wrote: "(YES.)Lynne let out a whoop as the panther gave chase. She loved an adventure. She shot off to the kitchens, the only place she could find safety, grinning all the way.
(These tones are so diffe..."
He caught sight of her as she disappeared into the kitchens, eyes sharp and alert in the darkness. Moving like a silent shadow, he slipped in after her, glancing around.
{Isn't it fun to be a crazy little muffin?}Max's heart clenched at her tears. He held her in his arms, wanting nothing more than to not have to explain. Knowing he had to. She couldn't be kept in the dark forever. "Do you remember the first time I helped you?" he murmured, voice shaking. "I passed out afterward."
{1. That's how I roll. ^-^ 2. You want a chase? I'll give you a chase! XD }After a silent moment, thinking, Jink eventually decided to ignore the mature course of action. With a rumbling growl from his throat, he took off like a jet after the servant girl, tearing through the hall with a cat's swift, elegant grace.
His throat tightened, and he forced himself to meet her eyes. "I promise you Bella, I will save you," he breathed. "But I-" He shut his eyes, gently pulling her against his chest. "We don't have much time anymore."
{*bares fangs* Bring it! XD }Nosy humans, Jink thought, smugly. He straightened to his full size, gazing at the boy blankly.
{Mwahaha. Secret. And now...}Jink's ears pricked when he heard a quiet shuffle behind the door. Silently stalking out, his green eyes glared into the dark at the sight of the two spying humans.
