58421 I would love to discuss the second book (sequel) to our group read this month. Anyone up for discussing The Second Summer of the Sisterhood as a buddy read in July? Just curious. Thanks so much!
58421 Eirelyn wrote: "Daph, I'd love to continue with the 2nd book next month. :D"

Awesome! I will post in the official buddy reads request post :)
58421 Hey, all. I am planning to read book 2. In fact, it's already on the holdshelf at the library for me. I was wondering if anyone plans to read book 2 if they'd like to do a buddy read of it in July or August? Just curious.

I am definitely planning to read Book 2. It's already sitting at my library on the hold shelf waiting to be picked up lol

58421 Would anyone like to discuss Debbie Macomber's 16 Lighthouse Road, the first book in her Cedar Cove series, with me? I have seen the show (and enjoyed it) and now I want to read the book. I am thinking September or October for it would be good. Thanks!

I thought the book was much bet..."

I agree about Lena's story. It was the weak link in the book, I think. The big scene where she bumbles her way through trying to tell Kostos she loved him really fell flat for me. They could have left out Lena's character and the book would have been fine lol

You're so right about Bailey too. She really made a big impact on everyone, including me.

58421 Book #17: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares
Rating: 4 stars
Completed: June 7, 2017

Overall thoughts: I liked it more than I thought I would. Some parts actually touched my heart to bring tears to my eyes.

Challenges: Alphabet Soup
58421 P.S. I never picked up this book thinking it would make me cry. color me shocked!
58421 Finished the book. It was a bittersweet ending I think. I am going to read book 2 soon and watch the movies to see how they compare. In a way I hated Eric and Bee slept together. In another, I can see them like he said, years down the line, running into each other and getting back together.

Bailey and Mimi's deaths broke me.

Carma's call to her dad where she let him have it, broke and healed me.

Good book.
58421 I finished the book. I ended up giving it 4 stars which surprises me but I did enjoy it. Parts towards the end almost had me balling. It was surreal. I can't wait to hear what everyone else thinks of how things shake out.
58421 Bailey has quickly become my favorite character in the whole story. She is so funny and I love how she's latched onto Tibby the way she has, only wanting to talk about her leukemia when it suits her. She keeps a stiff upper lip as the saying goes when if I had a fatal illness, I would be a huge mess. all.the.time! I really think she's the highlight of the book.

Ugh Lena. I wish she would just tell the truth about what happened with Kostos already. Yeah, he was doing a little peeping I guess and that's NOT cool but he didn't do what everyone thinks he did and they're all mad at each other. Her grandfather's blood even got on the precious traveling pants. Jeez.

I like this book and plan to read book #2 (already reserved at my library) but it's not a favorite I don't think. I don't know whether to laugh or be offended when Carm calls Paul's girlfriend Skeletor.

Oh and I commented in another post that Tibby was a snot. I understand her now and she's the most relateable of the 4 main girls. Bee just drives me nuts though I remember well having an obsession with boys at that age and needing to prove myself lol

Yeah I feel bad for Kostos too. Lena is definitely in jerk territory. I don't really like her character at all. She's the least interesting of them all. Plus, even she knows how gorgeous she is. I am quickly warming up to Tibby in later chapters!
