58421 I just finished chapter 8. I am going to try to get through a good number of chapters today after I've had some sleep.

(view spoiler)

Also, I agree all the names that are similar are very confusing sometimes. I still get them mixed up!

So glad about the poll change!! I always want to be able to see what's winning so, if necessary, I can adjust my vote accordingly. Thank you!

58421 I am listening to an audio book version of P&P for the first time. I got it from my Library website. I'm not very far in yet. The narrator does a good Mrs. Bennet but a poor Mr. Bennet lol I am curious how she'll interpret Darcy!

I get shivers (the good kind) whenever I read (or hear) the opening sentence of P&P:

It's such an iconic line... but I wonder if it applies nowadays lol

This is a good adaptation. I had it on DVD for years until I loaned it out and it got scratched and was no longer playable. I need to replace it.

Austen's books are different than the Bronte sisters' books, IMO. Of course, I've only read Jane Eyre so far, but the tone of the books seems so different it's like comparing apples and oranges. If pressed though I would honestly say I loved Jane Eyre better than Pride and Prejudice BUT I loved Persuasion by Austen better than any of the lot lol

As for Colin Firth's Darcy ... swoon!! But I loved the PBS one as well.

58421 Oh, I'm so glad people are discovering Austen for the first time! I hope you like P&P and go on to like her other books as well :)
