I'd like to suggest
The Name of the Wind by
Patrick Rothfuss for November or December :)

I'm excited to jump into this one next week as I just finished
My Best Friend's Exorcism and literally could not put it down! Sooo fun, I finished it in 2 sittings.
Have you read any of his other novels?

I'd like to suggest
Hamnet by
Maggie O'Farrell for October or November

Thanks to my TBR twin I finally read
Godkiller by
Hannah Kaner2.5 stars
My brief review

Oh I didn't know they made glasses like that! Very cool :)
I just finished this myself but was overall disappointed (my own high expectations ruined it, haha).
This reminded me of T.Kingfisher (whom I love) and now that you mention it, Uprooted too (also agree was better).
(view spoiler)[I wanted more of the creepy woods and the creatures within it! I love a dark fairy tale and I think this had a lot of potential with it's creatures,
I wanted more from Veris though. At times I forgot she was a grown woman of 40 because her decision making felt naïve to me. The "twist" of her childhood trauma and the death of her child just didn't hit me the way I think the author wanted it too.
Was it the woods that killed her child 2 years later? Had she left her in the woods would she have lived? I don't understand, haha. (hide spoiler)]I made just one highlight:
"the creatures here loved only the stars; they did not trust the moon, which was too bright for them, and for the same reason they had even less regard for the sun. So the light here was thin and uncertain, and as she walked she cast no shadow."
Overall I'm glad I took the time to read it even if it wasn't the grand 5 star read I'm always hoping for. I'd still probably pick up the second installment if it's in novella form.
Thank you for reading this with me! :)

I laugh at my past self for thinking I had planned out my reads this months so effortlessly. Pfft :)
I totally got wrapped up in another read and didn't even turn the first page on this one hehe.
buuutt I gotta return it in 6 days now so jumping in now.
Hope your travels/vacation has been awesome!

I'd like to nominate
The Martian by
Andy Weir
Connection to the theme:
While called the "Red Planet" Mars can appear more orange in tone at times and while on it's surface (is this a stretch? lol)
But also the cover is orange :)

I plan on cracking into this one come the weekend :)
Thank you for joining me!

I finished this one at like 1am last night :)
Thank you Beth for suggesting this because I'm so glad I finally read it.
This was exactly the kind of dark, twisted Peter Pan retelling that I wanted and it did not disappoint me in the least.
Total overall spoiler talk -->
(view spoiler)[The realization and brutal killing of Jamie's mom was so heartbreaking and sinister and when we learn that all the blood spilled during the Battles is what kept Peter young was brilliantly told in my opinion. Ugh - this was so good.
The build up of hate that created Hook the villain was satisfying and yeah, I'm with you Jamie - I'd want to do serious harm to Peter too! I get it! S**t was brutal!
I also loved that Tink was the unknown spy. (hide spoiler)]I initially wanted to rate this a 4 but I'm going up to a 5 because I just love all things Peter Pan.

Denise, it's totally fine to say that you didn't enjoy a book!
I'm leaning towards a 2 star rating as well even though there are a few stories here that I really enjoyed and I'll keep it in my collection for it's gorgeous cover, haha.

I'm at Part 2, chapter 9 and enjoying this.
Miiight try to finish it tonight, we'll see... there is a new episode of House of the Dragon so I dunno, haha.
I like this variation of Peter, it's not hard to believe.
(view spoiler)[I'm really hoping Jamie finds a way to get Charlie back home. (hide spoiler)]

The Ones Who Killed Us has been my least favorite so far and I'm about 70% of the way through.
And totally Beth! See that's why I don't F around cause I don't need to find out in this kinda manner, haha.

1. Historical Fiction, Sci-fi, Fantasy
2. Nope. This will be my first one :)
3. Yes

Nice! I'm planning on cracking into this one this weekend! :)

No worries :) Thanks all!

I'd like to suggest
The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by
Grady Hendrix for September or October please
also I think my suggestion for
The People in the Trees by
Hanya Yanagihara for August or September got lost in the mix (message 742) :)
Thanks SarahKat!
Ariail wrote: "I realized this was a buddy read that I’m about to start! I’m so intrigued by this book!"Awesome! Hope you enjoy!

I'm currently reading the final book of the First Law trilogy,
Last Argument of Kings by
Joe Abercrombie. I've realized that I have a lot of trouble finishing books I really, really like haha.
I'm loving every page of this (and have loved each book before) but I keep putting it down because I don't want it to end!
