58421 I'm still plugging away on this one but I'm enjoying it overall.

58421 My Libby hold came through the other day so I started this one a couple days ago and liking it so far.
I've read quite a bit from this author. Some I absolutely loved and others that just didn't hit.
Regardless, I seem to always enjoy her writing and her books help get me out of reading slumps!

Hope ya'll enjoy!
58421 Welp, I guess there's a reason I don't read this genre much lol.
In these last few months it's been difficult for me to staying engaged in a book so it's probably not this books fault, but I'm putting it down for now even though I'm barely half way.
I need something to get me out of a slump, not keep me in it!

58421 I'd like to nominate All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot

When I think of pets in literature, I think of this book. The stories of the beloved veterinarian caring for so many pets (patients).
58421 I've got a holiday off tomorrow so I'll get into this one then.
I haven't read this author before but found a copy secondhand for only $1 and it sounded too interesting to leave behind.
I haven't read a mystery in a while too so I'm excited to dip into this genre again.

Happy reading!

58421 I'm pretty excited for this one so I'm likely to start this weekend.
I don't usually vibe with audiobooks but Libby says this one has a full cast (these are the kinds I like!) and it's available with no wait :)
I think I'm gonna listen and read along for a full experience haha

58421 I was finally able to get into this one, and it's exactly what I needed right now to bring me back to life.
I'm only about 200 pages in or so but I'm already quite invested and really enjoying the atmosphere being created here.
I anticipate finishing this one soon, haha.

58421 I hope you continue to enjoy it Surabhi :)

I need to read this again with a kindle so I can highlight the heck out of it. I think this novel includes some of my favorite McConaghy's passages.

"He said our lives mean nothing except as a cycle of regeneration, that we are incomprehensibly brief sparks, just as the animals are, that we are no more important than they are, no more worthy of life than any living creature. That in our self-importance, in our search for meaning, we have forgotten how to share the planet that gave us life.”

58421 I'd like to join The Light Eaters for November :)

58421 This book absolutely devastated me and is my favorite of her works (with Wild Dark Shore a close second).
I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!

58421 Thanks ladies <3
Please keep going! I know SarahKat keeps the threads open for another month too so I'll catch up :)

58421 I'm so glad to see that you guys are liking this!
I'm sorry I haven't been able to join in with you this month so far - I know this isn't really the place for it but I gotta tell ya, I'm in the middle of kicking out a toxic ex boyfriend from my home right now and hadn't anticipated it taking so much of my mental energy. I haven't been able to read anything in weeks *cries*
I hope to join in here soon!

Aw, well I'm not surprised but I was hoping you'd have a better experience than I did!

Did anyone listen to this on audio? I wonder if that would have been a better format...

58421 I just got this on my kindle so I'm excited to get into it soon! I've never read this author before :)
Thanks for joining me ya'll!

58421 Suggesting Dracul by Dacre Stoker for Sept
Jun 09, 2025 12:46PM

58421 I finished this last night and overall I was disappointed. I had a hard time engaging with this one and didn't feel a thing for any of our characters.
While I agree, the second half did pick up a bit it wasn't enough for me to seek out this author again.
I think The Light Pirate did a water world better.

"But greed like that didn’t start out bad. What alters wanting is what’s behind it. Greed and hope aren’t opposites. Greed and hope are twins grabbing for the same thing, one in fear and one in faith."

Thanks for reading this with me ladies! :)
