my mom is a french teacher and she swears by watching disney movies in french to teach her younger kids - she had le roi lion (I think it is - the lion king) and several others that she used to use

moved down to the authors section ;)

Kailey - i'm soo jealous of you - scandinavian studies...I wish my college had offered that...I was saying to a friend the other if i could pick any language to learn in the world (for fun) - I would be one of the scandinavan ones

i just saw this guy advertised on Amazon - his stuff is set in Finland, but he is a German writer - Jan Costin Wagner
The Winter of the Lions

often when I'm using the new recommendation engine or Amazon, I get recs that sound interesting
here you can post asking if anyone has read a book that you are intrigued by

So what are you guys currently reading - NN or not?

yeah, but if the finnish publish owns the rights, then they have to be negotiated in the US which explains why...he did explain the english-finnish translation in another post...
hey guys - i'm thinking this convo might be better in his author thread and not the book series one

this is what one of his blog entries says -
http://www.jamesthompsonauthor.com/bl... - he does state that unless it says otherwise assume the book is written in the language of the country of publication...so his first two might be in finnish since they were only released there

its all fixed - i just disambiguated the author

fixed

i'm thinking someone associated the wrong james thompson with the book - this guys books are all literature kind of stuff, not thrillers...probably who ever added it...lemme fix

I couldn't even find a record of them in goodreads...

as a recommendaton for you guys - I have a personal bookshelf called Nordic Noir and using the new recommendations tool, I have gotten recommended some new authors...(they won't all be nordic, but they are supposedly noir)

If you guys want to add some other shelves, feel free...I only set one up for Book of the Month...
I was thinking author; location; maybe themes (financial, murder etc)...

Please feel free to add any NN books to the shelf that you know of. Mark all books as
read for the group shelf. Currently reading will be reserved for Book of the Month reads

I don't know how the comments work - you don't have to - I just added books

I added pretty much all the wallander audio books to my wishlist there - except for faceless killers; dogs of riga and the white lioness, because I have them already

i keep hoping next time I go back to sea, i'll luck out and get a ship that is doing a "booze cruise" - aka a med deployment - because they occasionally divert us to places like Norway

We would love to hear from you guys about any suggestions you have about what you would like to see in the group; stuff we can talk about...so let us know!
