4170 I agree. A person's sexuality should just be a part of them and not always be necessary for plot development.

They did a similar thing in the new Locke and Key series. Readers of the comic book know that Duncan (the Locke kid's uncle) is gay, but apart from one throw away line in the TV show, that could easily have been missed by some people. It wasn't needed for the TV story.

I do expect it may become more prominent in future seasons, as his partner was a minor character in the comic and could be in the TV show.
4170 Trike wrote: "I was just in Manchester today and saw a bunch of drooling zombies. I mean, they called themselves Trump supporters, but it was proof to me."

I can believe in those. Zombies, not the undead kind obviously, are something that could be scientifically explained within the Laws of Physics. i.e. a functioning, purely instinct driven eating and killing meat puppet.

Ghosts, Psychics, telekinesis etc can't be explained using the same Laws. Therefore they not only don't exist, they can't exist.

If you saw something spooky in the middle of the day, anywhere, when you were clear headed? That's also not proof.

Eyewitness accounts are, among, the least reliable of evidence. Our brains aren't that good at trying to interpret visual information. It will add information that isn't there to try and make sense of limited data. Memories are also fallible and are constantly being altered, even as we remember them.

I would demand extraordinary proof to be convinced of any fantastical/paranormal/supernatural phenomenon. My default setting would be to disbelieve it until overwhelming evidence is presented.

4170 I love those old books that have the inbuilt bookmark attached to the book made out of material. I have a few of those still.

Trike wrote: "Hey now, let’s not blame the user for poor design. That’s like victim-blaming."

I bet that phone users our age think about the viewers of their media ;-)

The worse videos are the ones that get picked up by news outlets and shown on TV. Portrait mode on a widescreen TV looks terrible.

4170 I did find it refreshing that it wasn't made a huge "thing" . It was just who she was. The blurb of the book made it seem like it was a major plot point.

It would be fair to say that New Zealand is more progressive than Georgia. Which is not to knock Georgia, NZ is more progressive than all of the US and most of Oz as well.

4170 If it was my own book, i'd just rip out each page after I read it and throw it away. That way you always know where you are.

For a library book, or someone else's book, I'd make a huge dog ear, half a page at least.

I kid, I kid ;-) There is a special place in hell (which I don't believe in) for people who dog ear or rip books (on purpose). It's right next to the section for people who film videos on their phones in portrait mode and post them on social media.

When I was a kid I used to make my own bookmarks. As an adult I just used pieces of coloured paper.

Now that I only read on my iPad I just use their bookmark.

4170 I've finished the whole Season and I loved it.

I'm even ok with the big changes they made in the finale. They were needed if there are to be more seasons.

It was cool to see Joe Hill do a cameo like his old man used to do. I didn't realise, until the credits, that Gabriel Rodrigues also had a cameo (in the same scene and doing the same job as Joe)

4170 I gave it 3 Stars, but would have given it 2½ Stars if that option was available.

It was 'ok'. Better than Meh, but slightly worse that 'Good', IMO.

By the end, an 'everyone dies' scenario would have been acceptable. I never really cared about any of the characters. I liked the snark and animosity between Gideon and Harrowhark, while liking neither of them.

I won't be reading a sequel.

4170 I've never heard of Lexx :-? Which is strange for a SFF TV show.
I somehow missed that.

It can't have been very popular in Oz

4170 This is now available on Netflix.

The trailers had me optimistically hopeful, but worried it could be disaster :-?
This is my 2nd favourite comic book series ever and my bar of expectations is set really high.

2 episodes in and I'm loving it so far. They have captured the feel of the comic and, except for 1 or 2 very minor exceptions, they have the casting fairly well spot on.

The house is perfect. So much so, that I wouldn't be surprised if this was the inspiration for Gabriel Rodríguez’s art work.

2 huge thumbs up, so far :-)

4170 Some authors are good about putting maps and a list of characters on their website.

With the rise of audiobooks this "should" be more common, especially if they are included in the dead tree and eBook version

4170 Wolf 359 by Gabriel Urbina

a free audio drama comedy sci-fi on Serial Box about a communications officer on a Research Station orbiting a Red Dwarf star (Wolf 359)

A bit of light relief between reading Gideon the Ninth, which I am enjoying.

4170 At least 3 are new to me as well.

Head key, Music Box Key and Omega key I know

The Fire Key, one with a goblet and the flower shaped one are new.

Edit: Flower shaped one could be the Plant Key.

4170 It's good to hear it is public. I may give it a go.

Remember when Veronica confusing Tamahome for a girl was a thing back in the early days of the podcast :-)

I laughed at its return. I assume Tamahome didn't :-)

If it is they've kept it quiet. I've never heard of it.

I'm not a fan of it on Podcast forums I'm on. It splits the community.

I prefer the public space. Like here.

Geez you're an old fart ;-)

20 years ago, I had been out of school over 20 years.

It really makes you feel old when you get invited to your final year's 40th anniversary (back in 2017) :-?
