4170 Sad-Ogo.

Literally, because he was a sad Ogo.

I'm sure Austria loves being mistaken for Germany ;-)

4170 i just remembered Mur Lafferty's Playing for Keeps

It is her take on the superhero genre. It was originally released as a podcast novel back in 2008, then sold as a book.

The podcast version is still available for free

4170 Making my way through the Murderbot series.

Finished 1 & 2 and now reading Rogue Protocol

This is a fun series.

4170 I thought it was a Barbie doll reference :-?

4170 They add to the story. Even though I had a list of characters, I never needed to look at it, as it wasn't hard to keep track of the main ones.

Many only appear once or twice.

That is not strictly true. It is true that the US parties are all further to the right than their equivalent European and Australasian counterparts.
The Democrats would be considered Centrist here and the Republicans far-right. Trump and similar politicians are far-far-right (basically fascist)

But my favourite US politician, AOC, would fit in nicely in the Labor party here as a a moderate left. Bernie would be just to the right of her, but still slightly left of Centre.

I agree there are no mainstream far-left politicians. Their far-left is very much on the fringes of the Union movement and would be considered communists.

Ok, thanks I might give it a watch, if it's on Disney+ Oz

They're not bad. They're are just not as catchy as other musicals which I loved as Soundtracks before I ever saw them on stage.

i.e Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera, Carmen etc

If it ever comes to Oz I will, possibly, go and see a full production.

A question, I haven't seen the Disney Hamilton. I had assumed it was just a recording of the musical pieces. Is it that or Is it a full dramatic recording of an actual performance of the show?

4170 I'd say stick with it. It is confusing early on and difficult to follow, but you need the information in those early chapters, as they play a part in understanding the relationships between characters.

There is a story that starts to take shape and once you're in it, it will last to the end of the book (I'm at 92%)

4170 I can't get past Stage 1. ;-)

I may be in the minority, but the music just doesn't do it for me.

4170 I would classify Ian Tregillis' books as superhero/villain novels.

These include The Milkweed Triptych

and The Alchemy Wars

4170 I wouldn't include this in the Horror genre. It is horrific in places, but it's more Grim Fantasy than horror.

BTW, just writing {spoiler} isn't sufficient. Some of what you have written are genuine spoilers.

Use the spoiler html that can be found top right of comment box

We've had this discussion before ;-) You assume, Most other people don't :-)

Unless there is a fantastical element, Breaking out into song and dance, while it would appear weird in real life, does not require any magic.

4170 Marilyn Monroe

Edit: I forgot about Monkey Business. That's SFF

mmm. You may be right :-?
4170 I am over 50%. It has got better now that there is a genuine mystery and quest story going. The first third of the book felt like a series of interconnected vignettes of Tracker's life.

Those who don't like the violence and sexual content will still not enjoy it. That is still part of the story.

The Science Based Medicine site is my go to for accurate scientific medical news.

Dr Steve Novella who is a major contributor there, has one of the longest running skeptical podcasts (15+ years) that debunk the pseudoscience quacks.

Brit Hermes has been a guest on the show and is regularly referenced. It's amazing how many people think Naturopaths are legit and know what they are doing (They aren't and don't)

Hearing Brit's experiences is enlightening, now that she has left the Dark Side ;-)

It is hard to believe that Brave New World is almost 90 years old.

It seemed new, and made a huge impression on me, when I read it over 40 years ago and it was half a century old then :-?

Definitely a Sci-Fi classic.
