4170 I'm hoping Three-Body Problem will be better than The Wandering Earth.

TWE was ok as an action packed popcorn flick, but I want more from TTBP. It is deeper and has a lot more thought provoking material.

There are some great action set pieces as well

4170 Terry Pratchett didn't make that up. He borrowed the world turtle and the elephants from mythology.

It is a Hindu myth and also features in other countries mythology around the world.

I picture Locke as bald and chasing smoke monsters 😉

4170 The other movie Tom was trying to remember that was similar to Armageddon was Deep Impact

4170 Dune! Dune looks so good! Yay Dune! Save us! Help us escape! Actually, we’re pretty good on that front as Ten Thousand Doors of January is helping us all escape. And we’re also pretty bulllish on the team putting together a TV adaptation of Three-Body problem for Netflix. EVERYTHING IS GREAT!

4170 Gravity is great. A fair bit of artistic licence.

Is it sci-fi though? It uses current tech in a realistic setting.

She will always be Emma Peel from The Avengers for me.

4170 I'd say let him have it, but he can't start it until "A Dream of Spring" is on the shelves of book sellers.

That should be about 2035 🤔

4170 Nice list. I'm unfamiliar with Upgrade, but the rest are solid.

I'd have 2018 as Black Panther (ru: Avengers: Infinity War)

4170 0% interested in older sci-fi, but you want Jekyll and Hyde picked 🤔

4170 Trike wrote: "The first episode of HBO’s sci-fi series Raised By Wolves from Ridley Scott is free on YouTube. That is some bonkers stuff."

It continues to be bonkers in Ep. 2 & 3

After 3 episodes I'm still trying to work out who are the good guys. The Atheists or the Christians? :-?

4170 At least they didn't have the Kardashians like Star Trek 🤔

The Kardashians are a quasi-reptilian humanoid species.

Star Trek's Cardassians are also bit reptilian looking 😜

With great power comes great responsibility. Not to mention the fun we'd have at your expense if it's no good 😜

4170 Autonomous is an excellent book. I enjoyed it immensely.

4170 I'd like to do a book from one of the early masters of sci-fi. H.G.Wells or Jules Verne.

If we are talking about filling a gap. There is a huge gap between Frankenstein (1818) and Slan (1940) for our Laser picks.
4170 How does the audiobook handle the footnotes?

4170 I wonder if Red Mars is a hint at October's book pick ;-)
