4170 Welcome Bethany.

4170 So I listened to it now. I laughed at how you called me out for correcting you on the guest book pick.

Glad to hear Veronica is enjoying the Riyria so much. And Good News!

You can jump into the prequels if you want more Royce and Hadrian starting with The Crown Tower. There are 4 of those out and a 5th book is tenatively planned.

There is also the ancient history books starting with Age of Myth, but those don't have Riyria in it. Those are still really good too.

4170 I haven't listened yet either, but wasn't A Dance of Cloaks selected by a kickstarter backer? Then you made that guy's book an alt pick for the month.

4170 I can't see that link from work, but it's probably the same. There was a thread on it in this group at one point or another.

It looks like my book is in transit so I may start it a little early this week.

4170 I really liked both Lady Astronaut books, so maybe I'll like this one more than I expect to. I just need to wait for my hold to come in.

Oh, I didn't mean I had trouble with my vision. I just mostly listen to audiobooks rather than traditional reading with my eyes. And both were underwhelming and took me way longer to read than I'd have liked.

Hopefully your new glasses help you though.

4170 Thankfully I was able to put in a hold at my libary. Despite my chrome library plugin telling me it wasn't available in my county. It did say it was available in another county so it's not like it's completely broken.

Thankfully I forgot about that plug-in and simply went to the site to search for it.

My last 2 books that I've read with my eyes have been a struggle. I probably don't have enough time to start another before my hold for this comes in.

I'm hoping I like this better than the blurb.

4170 Catching up on some reviews:

First I listened to Fall, or Dodge in Hell, which I enjoyed but not as much as some of his other books. - ★★★½☆ - (My Review)

Then I listened to The Vexed Generation which I thought breathes some fresh life into the series. - ★★★★☆ - (My Review)

And finally I finished reading The Last Unicorn which I struggled with for nearly a month despite it's short length. - ★★☆☆☆ - (My Review)
4170 This is definitely the worst we've had in awhile. I thought it was only 2 threads. I didn't realize how bad it was until about 2.5 hours later.
4170 I flagged the first two. I've deleted all the ones I've come across and banned them from the group. The damage is done though.

Not only did a ton of people get spammed, but my deleting of threads will mess up notifications for real replies for a bunch of people.

I think I got them all, but if I missed some, please point them out to me so I can clean that shit up.

They did in podcast 356. It's "Brea Grant, writer filmmaker actor and host of the Reading Glasses podcast"

4170 Veronica here's my 2c:

So I really LOVE Dresden, hence my post, but the first 4 books or so are a lot of worldbuilding and setup and can probably be skipped if you don't want to do all 15. Although I've done them all a few times now.

I HIGHLY recommend the audio as Tom suggested. They are done James Marsters (aka Spike from Buffy the vampire slayer).

Much like the books themselves the first few aren't as good. They were published by a company called Buzzy Multimedia or something and the audio quality isn't as good.

In some of the early books you can hear James Marsters salavating or something. But the later books are fantastic in audio (both in terms of audio quality and Marsters narration).

I did a full relisten a few years ago. I'm kind of tempted to do another ahead of the new book (once we have a concrete release date for Peace Talks)

Also Orphan Black is fantastic. I actually own it all in BluRay, cuz then I don't have to worry about where it's streaming. It's another one of my favorite things!

I think my friends are tired of me telling them about Dresden, Orphan Black and now Expanse (both books and TV).

Finally I'll say while I love Quentin Tarrentino movies and Star Trek, I don't want the two things together.

OK. Thanks Veronica.

4170 I know it may be too early for you guys since you just met yesterday, especially with your location rotating, but any idea on what your meetup for July will be?

I'm working on the monthly group message to send out this weekend and I'd like to include a date if possible.

4170 I'm hoping now that he's moved, got married and (mostly) finished Peace Talks that he'll get Olympian Affair done much faster than Peace Talks.
