I might be sending the email out like hours before your meetup. Not sure if it will prompt anyone to show up.
Hopefully if they miss this month, they'll try to make the following though.

It only costs $5 apparently, and you can add-on the audio for $2.
In this case I clicked the checkbox for the audio and selected "borrow" and I got the audiobook for $2 instead of $7.
It's still prompting me to buy the book for $5. I'm not sure how long you can borrow for. I feel like in the past I've gotten free book from prime that just seem to be in my library, so maybe that's why it worked.
But I think those books didn't say borrow but "Buy for $0"

Spider-Man has always been my favorite comic book character. I thought the first Sam Ramey movie was great, but the sequel not as much. Dr. Oc was great, but all I really remember was him taking his mask off in front a train full of people.
Everyone seems to rank Spider-man 2 really high, so I may need to rewatch. Then they didn't make any more for a long time until the reboot.
When the new one started with Homecoming I both appreciated they didn't force another origin story and they went younger on the casting to really make Peter feel more like a teenager than in the previous versions.
I thought this was in some ways better than Homecoming and in others not quite as good. Gylenhall was a fantastic Mysterio, but not quite as good for me as Keaton's Vulture.
I liked the dynamic of Peter and MJ a lot more in this one compared to Liz. But then I really like the take on MJ a lot compared to past iterations.
I loved the more modern take on Mysterio from what I remember from the 90s comic/Saturday morning cartoons (view spoiler)
I think my updated ranking is now:
Homecoming
Far From Home
Into the Spiderverse
Spider-Man
Spider-Man 2
Amazing Spider-man
Amazing Spider-man 2
And that's it! There were NO OTHER spider-man movies.
I'll be really curious to see what happens next. Not only with the MCU, but Spider-man in particular. There is speculation after how well Venom did that Sony will withdraw Spider-Man from the MCU and build their own mini universe instead.
I really hope that doesn't happen. However Venom without spider-man was just wierd (although I liked it better than I expected). My hope is that if they do it, they simply wait until Tom Holland is done with the character.
I saw rumors yesterday that spider-man might be they way they add Deadpool to the MCU.
Personally I really want Spider-man to stay in the MCU no matter who is playing him. I hope Sony doesn't think they can do better on their own. I think it's still in their best interest to do at least some of their movies in the MCU.

I liked it more than I expected, but not by much. Glad I read, but glad to move on.

BTW, you guys seems to like to meet just before I send them out (roughly the 23 of each month) so it makes it hard to include you guys.
If you can, think about what the tenative date for August will be, and ideally create an event for it. You can always update the event later if you need to change any details (date/time/location)
I'd like to be able to include your next meeting rather than telling everyone they just missed the last one. Veronica was able to give me the date for the July event so I simply pointed to her post in this thread rather than an event.

The biggest differences between S&L and the SFF group are:
This group is run by 2 people who make (most) of the picks. There are occasional member votes and our now annual march madness tournament but the rest of the picks have been "dictitorial"
This group only reads 1 book/month, either SF or fantasy, but not both
This group has a podcast done by the 2 leaders of the group that goes back for about 10 years. The podcast include "kickoff" episode at the start of the month and a "wrap-up" and the end.
Periodically they also do author interview podcasts as well, or live shows from conventions (for years they did a panel at Dragoncon that was recorded and released).
They've also done 2 seasons of YouTube shows. The first season was done for Geek & Sundry, the second was funded by a Kickstarter campaign.
