...and I just realized this was yesterday. I'm still waiting on the book pick to send out the newsletter, so any plans for October yet? :-D

Wayne, did you mean to post this in the Tacoma thread?

4170 I loved me some Far side back in the day.

School for the gifted is still a personal favorite

I just hope this reboot comes anywhere close to my memory of it.

Just out of curiousity, would it spoil things if you've read most of the series? I'm through Crossroa..."

I believe it came out between Crossroads of Twilight and Knife of Dreams, so you should be good.

4170 Catching up a few (but not all of my reviews). Hopefully I'll catch up for real next week.

All in audio, because most of my reading these days.

First I did. Dark Age. I liked it better than Iron Gold but not nearly as much as Golden Son or Morning Star - ★★★★☆ - (My Review)

Next was Prince of Fools. I liked this much better than his Broken Empire trilogy, but not nearly as much as his Book of the Ancestor series. - ★★★½☆ - (My Review)

Jessica Jones (103 new)

4170 I finally got around to watching this. I thought it was a good season and much better than season 2. I'd put it in the top 5 of seasons Netflix did as a whole.

I think most of the Netflix Marvel shows suffered in season 2 though. The one exception would be Iron Fist, but that had nowhere to go but up really (and the reason I liked it better was when it ignored Danny and focused on Colleen and Misty). I'd have watched the shit out of a Colleen/Misty spin-off.

I watched all of the Netflix/Marvel stuff and I enjoyed it all to some degree, even the stuff that seems unpopular, but I don't tend to spend too much time thinking about stuff and just sort of try to enjoy the ride.

I'd probably rank them something like this:

Jessica Jones - s1
Daredevil - s1
Daredevil - s3
Punisher - s1
Jessica Jones - s3
Punisher - s2
Luke Cage - s1
Daredevil - s2
Iron Fist - s2
Luke Cage - s2
Jesssica Jones - s2
Defenders - s1
Iron Fist - s1

I liked the first half of Luke Cage s1, but found the second half not nearly as good. I liked season 2 better than the second half of season 1 (in particular the villian was much better), but still not as good as that first half. The highlight for me of the series was probably the music.

Defenders and s1 of Iron Fist were both forgetable, but I didn't find either as bad as a lot of people thought.

Jessica Jones was at the top for me for best season, but I liked Daredevil as a whole better overall.

I really wish we'd get a season 4 of Jessica Jones, but season 3 felt the most disconnected from the Netflix Marevel world of all the seasons of all of the shows. Maybe that was a good thing.

I liked the addition of mind wave. It made for a good addition to the powered storyline while still keeping most of the focus on Jessica and Trish.

4170 Gotcha. That link worked much better incidentally.

Our group uses google hangouts, and I setup a discord server for S&L, but I haven't made it public yet. Not sure if that will be a thing or not though. It's up to Tom & Veronica.

4170 your link isn't clickable for some reason.

Any particular reason you've made a group on goodreads, rather than just using the group here?

I'm sorry..you lost me when you argued that Die Hard wasn't a Christmas movie..

4170 I thought Aftershocks was a promising start to a new series. Not sure it will fill my Expanse itch, but definitely looking forward to book 2.

I struggled with the characters in Black Prism too. I liked the later books better, but that struggle never went away. The magic system is definitely what carried it for me too.

4170 Personally I'd only count it for one challenge, but no one is going to audit you.

4170 Welcome Eli.

4170 It doesn't matter. If you want/need a new goal to stretch for, go for it! If you're content just making up for the slackers like me, that's fine too.
