40475 I love a good rant.

In fiction and nonfiction.

It's a great form for stories as well as reviews...
40475 haha, no...or if it is, it's homework I enjoy ;-)

40475 Yes, that one I have on hold.

However, I have read several of his shorter novels as well as his short stories. Highly recommended!

He is one the finest writers writing today.
In my opinion.

40475 I find I give up later in a book than I used to because I want to make sure I can give an honest opinion in my review and I'll read things I may not otherwise because people have asked for my opinion.

that seems like a very positive by-product of reading/reviewing on goodreads.

40475 true.
There are some very impressive 18 yr-olds, on this site, and IRL.
40475 I have to jot down notes, fold over page corners in the book I'm reading, so I don't forget to include things in my review...

40475 oops. just saw that Mike beat me to the Marias recommendation.

His novels (and stories) are brilliant and wonderful.

40475 Ala, I held out for the longest time....

Still, in my family of 7 (mom and my 4 siblings plus my son), only 3 of us are on it.
40475 modifies the verb in a sentence.

often ends with -ly in English.
40475 true.
esp on Goodreads.
40475 but everyone loves a good 'hater' review!

40475 I don't like to mix my FB and GR worlds, so I don't use the GR feed over on FB.
I'm not sure how interested my FB friends are in my reviews and comments, and I like to keep things "pure."
FB is already sullied enough as it is, what with all the different worlds of "friends" I have over there: work, family, past, authors, GR-friends, etc.
40475 if I feel intimidated by a book when I think of reviewing it, it's only because there have already been so many excellent reviews written by folks on GR: people like D.Pow, brian g., DFJ (the Other Jessica), Kowalski.

For some reason the novel 2666 by Bolano comes to mind as one I might be intimidated to review, but I haven't even read it yet, and I know Kowalski will not go near it.
40475 exactly!
