40475 Oh, I know that.

it's an equal opportunity industry.

Still, I think it's fair to say that younger shapely women are still the most popular.

40475 I don't like the gang-ups/pile-ups either.
I know folks are trying to be supportive of the reviewer, but how many supportive comments (or antagonistic attacks) does the reviewer need? usually one or two will suffice--

40475 well yeah, I know. just sayin'

40475 It was a pic of her, looking very suggestive, cleavage etc, maybe in a brassiere, can't remember it too well

40475 There used to be a woman on Goodreads who did homemade porn. Don't know if she's still here.

[yes, I did check out her link. It was fairly dull stuff]
40475 Hi Carrie, welcome and very sorry to hear about your dad.
I am also not a fan of romance novels. can't go near them.

I have one author with 27 reviews out of which two are definitely genuine (the non-positive ones!)...."

crap. too true.

40475 I used to review novels for my local newspaper and other publications. I always felt that the review was an intimate conversation between me, the novel and the author.
I love reviewing for that reason--whether here on gr or elsewhere.

my professional reviews are longer though, more in-depth and less conversational.

40475 interesting. I've never actually read the book (never wanted to, either before or after the brouhaha) but I believe you.

40475 A friend who is a therapist and counselor for drug-addicted teens told me that Frey's book did more damage...conveying the idea that one could get clean on one's own. Without intervention or help. She could not discuss it without getting upset...

40475 But our experiment petered out inconclusively.

how disappointing.

40475 that's quite a thread that follows your Bible review,Keely... I have to say, I admire your patience, fortitude and clear-thinking there.

40475 I think it means 'exactly what was said' (by someone else). same words. (as in: I agree!)

40475 You can get flogged in Singapore (where spitting out chewed gum is a crime).

40475 ha! Petra, I went to read and then vote and found I'd already voted on it. Think that was 'ages' ago...

nice review.

40475 hmm, that's really interesting. I never saw it that way. Makes me want to reread it. I read it years ago, as a young expat (well, aged 26) living in Mexico City...and I absolutely loved it.
