Huh. I love Eagle's books and apparently I read this but I don't recall it at all. Time to reread.
What I admire about the Gurkhe book is the compelling way it depicts the hero's reasons for being a fortune Hunter and the way she shows what might happen when a couple that is separated is suddenly confronted with the need for an heir . While I can understand people's dislike of how quickly he commits adultery when his marriage runs into trouble, I also think it's very true to the time period. And I think that his emotional growth is realistic.
I tend to like true to the time plots and I admire the risks she took here.

I think the Gurkhe book is very well done, although I can see why you can't forgive the heroine. I didn't like Some Enchanted Season and haven't read the others.

The closest I can come to a contemporary that I liked is Not Quite a husband--which is a more recent historical and the infidelity is right before the wedding.
Surely there must have been contemps with adultery that I read but I cannot think of them.

I can think of several that I admire --This Duchess of Mine by Eloisa, The Obedient Bride and Dancing With Clara by Balogh, Margarita by Wolf. In every case they start as marriages of convenience. This sounds like a contemporary. I am curious to see how the author handles that.

I definitely haven't read this.

The new Kleypas didn't work well for me although it might have been better if I had just read the prior book in the series.

Just finished Duke of Sin. I really liked it, and I am not a fan of bad boys. It's funny, but also we see how Valentine was taught to be evil and how despite that at key moments hr has been good. And he is always good to Bridget (unlike Mickey).
Also he gives up being bad out of love not because circumstances force it or its safer.
I can't decide whether at the end he is being nice despite himself or enacting revenge in a funny way on his enemies or both. But it's priceless.

I have SIX I can't wait to read--the new books by Kleypas, Long, Hunter, Morgan, Hoyt and the anthology with a Bourne novella.

Probably my favorite of the series

Thanks Aly! June I hope you are ok

Thanks for telling us. She was amazing in her historical accuracy. How sad that she died so young.

And why must they all come after a three day weekend?

And of course I am also looking forward to those short stories !

Well the release dates could have changed but on my nook pre orders, these books should be released:
Kleypas Marrying Winterbourne
Hunter The Wicked Duke
MorganSleepless in Manhattan
Long Hot in HellcatCanyon
Hoyt Duke of Sin.

I'm rereading a favorite author to pick my next puzzler and waiting for the Eloisa JAmes book out tomorrow . And I cannot wait for the 31st...

Nope. No idea

I think Nobody's baby but mine was my first SEP and it's still my favorite. I like the older couple as much as the younger...

Yes Meredith Duran is awesome although she doesn't fit either of the formats you described above.
Sherry Thomas and Courtney Milan are also newish authors who are wonderful, unique, and worth trying. Closer to home in this group we have Manda and Theresa Romain.
And if you haven't read Jennifer Crusie, you have missed out. Her Bet Me may be the best romance of the 21st c and was voted best of the decade by the people in this group.

Leigh-Ayn have you read Dear Enemy or So Enchanting by Connie Brockway ?

I know it!
