Wow Richard! I knew there were some v big readers on here, but you take it to another level! Thank you for being willing to be flexible with what we use.Hi Lisa! I hope you have a fab time in Japan. We'll try to avoid the need for too many clangers this time round.
That makes me feel a little better about my lack of painting! I managed to fill in the cracks a month ago, but the next step hasn't quite happened yet. Maybe after Christmas...
Morning/Evening everyone! Welcome to Inferior Painting where all those cracks, chips and dents are celebrated.Wait... It doesn't actually say Inferior... Ok, interior painting; that thing I still need to do to fix the cracks from our house settling over the last 10 years.
It's time for the next round of Wheels! There are a couple of additional rules to the normal set that I'll summarise here.
1. Have fun and be kind.
2. Every team member has a reading cap linked to their sign up number. It is a minimum of 4 books extra (if you read less than 8 books a round) and a maximum of 30 books in total (relevant if you read 20 or over). For everything in between you get 50% more than your sign up i.e. 12 books gives you another 6 to reach the cap.
3. There are bonus points for older and longer books. They can stack so if you read an old chunkster then we get both sets of points.

- Captains are the only ones who get to add books to the official team sheet in post 1.
- A team tracking sheet will be available soon and will be linked in post 4
-You should be able to see the team sheet, but no write access to it.
- If you don't want to add your books to the planner, that's fine; just post a completion post with all the letters & reasons.
- Don't forget to add your books to your shelf.
- You are expected to check into the team at least once a week, so we know you are still about and playing.
- If you have to reduce your reading / are going to go quiet / etc etc do let us know so we don't worry unduly (either the thread or directly as a PM to one of the captains or even to the mod account)
I'm Sophie, one of your captain trifecta with Mel and Karen. I'm from the UK. Real life is full on as a mum of 2 small munchkins who both have birthdays in the next month and working full time as a GP.
I will read anything up to and including a cereal box (which have got less interesting since I was a kid) except horror.
My shelf is chores.
Rule 1: Have fun!Rule 2: Read the official rules here.
After rules 1 and 2 have been followed, I'm happy to answer any and all questions - hopefully at least one will have the answer 42.

Melanie wrote: "So quick question about the reading cap. How does rounding work for this when it comes to the 50% more cap.I think I signed up for 9 books per round, so 50% over would be 4.5 books. Would that ro..."
The cap is rounding up so 9 books per round would give you 5 extra and 14 in total.
If you are down for more than 20 books a round then you stop adding books at the hard cap of 30 books regardless of what your additional 50% would come to.
Annalisa, I'm so sorry about everything that has happened there. I hope you have somewhere dry warm and safe soon and that everything becomes easier for you fast.
Can anyone who has signed up, especially those with more than 30 books a round please go and read the rules of the challenge fully? There have been some changes we need you all to be aware of before we start.
Welcome back from hospital! Hope the kitchen refit has been done so you are at least back to a normal level of mayhem.Impressed by how far through that list we've got! There are more Greek monsters left than I expected.
Urgh taxes. Mine get sent to my sisters so I can ignore them. Speaking of, I should check how they are going.
I need to read the Prime of Miss Jean Brodie soon. Having read this, I recommended it to a friend (who isn't on here). It's been written with affection rather than just meanness which is sometimes missing these days.
I really enjoyed this one. The gentle commentary on the wealthy older English was the right level of acerbic for me.
More searching and less panicking has made our group realise that the tentacles tag has a much better mix than tentacle. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... for a summary list Sammy has creating.
The Graveyard Shift is tagged monster-tentacles if we find that an acceptable alternative and looks like there are no sexy times!
I can too! Looks like if you add monster or similar to the tentacle tag then they become more tolerable!
also looks reasonable.
