35559 Memento Mori by Muriel Spark

I really enjoyed this one. The gentle commentary on the wealthy older English was the right level of acerbic for me.

35559 More searching and less panicking has made our group realise that the tentacles tag has a much better mix than tentacle.

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... for a summary list Sammy has creating.

35559 The Graveyard Shift is tagged monster-tentacles if we find that an acceptable alternative and looks like there are no sexy times!
Sep 24, 2024 10:16AM

35559 I can too! Looks like if you add monster or similar to the tentacle tag then they become more tolerable!

The Graveyard Shift (24/7 Demon Mart, #1) by D.M. Guay also looks reasonable.

35559 If one of us tags the China Mieville book maybe someone else could read it.

35559 I looked at that and yes, entirely porn.

A little mermaid retelling or a middle grade book including krakens would have been acceptable.

35559 Has anyone found a book that is tagged tentacle at least once for the cthulthu that isn't tentacle porn. I'll read a lot of dubious material, but not wanting to go there.
Sep 24, 2024 09:24AM

35559 Right the tentacle tags are entirely tentacle porn and I'm really not up for that! Anyone willing to volunteer?

35559 Glad you made it back Cat! That aeroplane sit is not one to be repeated though if the plane isn't moving.

Joe is loving the Rowley spooky stories by the same author if you can find it.

35559 Was about to let you all know about that when there was a meltdown about Duplo.

35559 I can take MC is gaslit as Charmian is during Memento Mori. Also works for page length (224). Would also work for character over 70 if we can use Sammy's somewhere else as well.

35559 I've got several on the go that have 1 U in the author, so close but not actually helpful!

Actually I've found I Know You by LoUise MUllins which also works for my current maze task.

35559 Patience my pretties! It'll come when the time is right.

35559 I'm good with that. Seems the same as a lot of the other things we've allowed to count.

35559 We have had vague themes for the challenges for 2025 since about March! Which is earlier than standard but we do try to think a bit in advance.

35559 I'm not sure that you need a psychotherapist. It sounds instead like some chipmunks might be heading your direction. Please let them know of any ideas and wild thoughts as we find these to be very enlightening.

35559 Wheel challenge... Now that's a novel idea. I don't know why you'd think you'd need a lot of U options for it.

I've found an MM series on KU which has a U in the series title. Think there's another 4 of them I can read so currently not searching too hard.

35559 Yay!

I'd missed the new Peter Grant coming out - that's definitely a good one for audio.

I'm enjoying the clipped upper class English accent used by the narrator for Memento Mori.
