I would count it, but I play loosey goosey as there's lots on my mental tbr that hasn't made it to my GR one.
I'm ok with it, especially since it's a good book.SANDWORM is here now:

Tagged sand at least 1
Letters WORM in title
Teeth visible on cover

I'm not horrified by my spin.
Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
Toru, a quiet and preternaturally serious young college student in Tokyo, is devoted to Naoko, a beautiful and introspective young woman, but their mutual passion is marked by the tragic death of their best friend years before. Toru begins to adapt to campus life and the loneliness and isolation he faces there, but Naoko finds the pressures and responsibilities of life unbearable. As she retreats further into her own world, Toru finds himself reaching out to others and drawn to a fiercely independent and sexually liberated young woman.
A magnificent blending of the music, the mood, and the ethos that was the sixties with the story of one college student's romantic coming of age, Norwegian Wood brilliantly recaptures a young man's first, hopeless, and heroic love.
It'll be like this until a TT situation when it will switch to under 200 pages. Not sure how we can tell between hot potato and infection. If hot potato maybe we switch back to Cat.
I'm being a bad UNO team member and reading this which is 750p works for 2, 5 and 3 as well. So just need 4.

Was a 2* book for me, which is rare. There was no narrative thread to easily follow through.
I've just made a start on this. Time to see how far I get before the start of UNO.The first section with introductions to the 3 women felt slow, but this strikes me as the kind of book it takes me the first 10% to get into fully and immerse myself in the world.
read for the first time in over 20 years. I'm counting some rereads as part of this challenge if it has been a suitably long time since I first read them.
Recluce is massive series and seems to still be coming. It has an interesting tale on good Vs evil and how that can change a society.Imager series is another of his that I've enjoyed and is less epic in scope.
Being in a writing group with him sounds like an excellent experience. Glad to hear that he was good about his interactions as well.

They were the first of my parents fantasy books that I read so did the same for me. The other was L.E. Modesitt Jr.
I have literally just finished
which is a non-fiction that discusses labour conditions and workers rights in almost all of its chapters. If you are happy that can take task 3.

How would we distinguish between this one to grow our tbrs, the group challenges to increase your tbr and all the others?
It's not our fault everyone signs up knowing the risk.
And the Scalzi and Dan Jones are added to mine. This challenge is doing the opposite of what it is meant to.
Last year I managed all but 1 of the books I had on my list from this - some of which had been on my tbr for about 10 years and I'd been avoiding for no discernible reason. Time to try again!135 The Serpent's Tale
74 King of the Murgos 4*
45 Remember When
177 Lolita
274 Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
32 Holy Sister
336 Letters from Father Christmas
231 The Remains of the Day
113 Something's Guava Give
242 To the Lighthouse

Yay! Thank you Sammy and hubby.
I wouldn't count any of the characters in this as strong or powerful. All v flawed.
