Hmm it's a hard question to answer - the writing was pretty good for a romance focused book, I liked all the characters. But it was unnecessarily long, and some parts of the story didn't make sense to me. The F-MC suddenly loses all semblance of identity and blindly follows the M-MC, until she, once again, turns back into a "strong independent woman". It was a pleasant enough read for the points, and kept me engaged through 80% of the book. Would I have paid for it had it not been on KU? Probably not.

35559 Awesome thank you Melissa!

35559 Is anyone planning to read The Sword of Kaigenand willing to be a backup DQ writer in case I get picked? It’s on KU.

If yes, you need to sign up in the DQ thread within the next 4 days

Yes, what Laura said. Don't worry about it, We can make most books fit somewhere in the food spell out.

Yes! The precis says "stuck at sea" so I would assume that the body of water is an ocean.

35559 Also, I had claimed the ocean on cover task for australia, but my reading has slowed down due to work. If someone else has a book they'd like to red, feel free to claim that task.

Did this issue fix itself?

Also, how are you doing on "The Idiot" the Don Quixote book?

35559 My husband and I are off to six flags today, so I’ll be away from electronics for most of the day. I’ll respond to any questions tomorrow unless one of the co-caps gets to it before me :)

Yeah, I didn’t realize the sequels weren’t out when I started the book. I can’t wait!

Awesome! If you listen to audiobooks, I would highly recommend the audio version. The narrators were so good!

35559 I just finished 2 fantastic books that I would highly recommend:

Quicksilver - Romantasy, smart and heroic characters, and the plot was solid. A 5 star read for me!

The Bones Beneath My Skin - So many tears through this book! Loved it!! Humorous, cute and a small element of suspense. Another 5 star read!

35559 @Laura - would you recommend Bow Before the Elf Queen? The precis is very interesting but the avg rating is 3.92, so I'm on the fence.

35559 We still have the following tasks outstanding in mini 2:

Read a book which has the main location (setting) on the Australian continent - Claimed by Priya. Let us know if you changed your mind :)

Read a book which has the main location (setting) as a bus, train, or other road based vehicle - Claimed but Namita, but this is a collection of short stories. We are still trying to get some clarity from Namita on whether all the stories are set in a train. I suspect not? So, if anyone else has read a book, or would like to read one for this task, please let us know.

Read a book with MPG Travel - Unclaimed

35559 The new cheese is all done :) Thank you all so much for filling out the spell out letters, so helpful!
Jun 29, 2025 07:22AM

35559 And just to avoid some back and forth in the future, we always need the phrase and location of the word for any word-related tasks :)
