35559 Day 2 – Book 2 &3
Most of these questions are spoilers for Book 1-3

1. Were you surprised to see how time travel works in this book?
I'm not familiar enough with time travel to "be surprised," assuming the question based on a comparison to other time travel books.

2. Did you anticipate the issues with Barry going back in time and Meghan? Do you think that is a realistic reaction?

I wouldn't say that I "anticipated" it but I did enjoy reading about it and I think it helped me to understand a little bit more. I think based on the story, it's feasible.

3. Now that we are about halfway done, what do you think of the characters and motivations? Do you feel like you connect to them or that they are real people?

While I liked the characters, I can't say that I felt a true connection to them. For that to happen to me, I pretty much need to have much more of an emotional connection.

4. At this point, in the book, multiple timelines are starting to branch. How do you think this would change your view of reality if it was this malleable?

Wow! This concept is really abstract for me. So, I simply cannot fathom any of this except in a book world.

5. Finally, this book is already optioned as a screenplay (I think) and many reviews comment that it reads that way too. Do you like books that read like a movie or do you wish the author wrote it differently?

I didn't feel as though it "read like a movie" nor did I really think of what a great movie it would make, but then again I'm not really into time travel, sci-fi, nor much that's not realistic; however, that being said...I LOVED Back to the Future but maybe because their time travel involved times that I knew about...the 1960's. At least there were a lot of allusions that brought back memories for me that I know my own grandchildren have no idea what was meant.

35559 Okay that’s what I thought. Then I’ll wait until Jill & Trisha finish. Thank you!!!

And I’m finishing the Recursion DQ’s today before I leave just in case.
Sep 29, 2019 10:52AM

35559 OH, Trisha, you know we've all done that kind of thing. LOL It's all right.

Jenny, just to be 100% sure (lousy memory!), I KNOW I can't finish a book until Jill and Trisha finish their countdown books, but can I START reading them or do I have to wait to begin them?

Howdy and yes I did and I liked it a lot, but what I don't like is that now I can't read it. LOL Sorry if I was snooping and HELLO Team Ira!

35559 Yeah, that's why I said I wouldn't be able to count it because I read it only 3 months ago, but I'll find something else to do. LOL

35559 Devann, I meant that because I already just read it in June I don’t think I can read it and have it count.

I read Wilder Girls by Rory Power but that probably doesn't count.

35559 I'm working on Recursion by Blake Crouch DQ's now, so I can finish them over the weekend before I leave for Cabo. I finished DQs for Day 1/Book 1.
35559 DQs Day 1

1. We start with a bit of a bang. Did you have any first impressions of what was going on? Time travel? Parallel universe? Delusions? Something else?

I thought it would be a parallel univers and/or time travel.

2. What do you think having FMS is like? Why do you think it seems to be contagious, and how?

OMG! I'd be so confused! I'd hate to not know which memories are true and which are false. I know we have true memories that are blurred but to have absolute false memories woud suck. I wouldn't think it would be contagious. LOL I would think it would be viral so passed on via air/touch perhaps.

3. The main characters are both dealing with loss; Barry with his daughter, and Helena with her mother’s memories. How do you think what they have gone through is affecting their careers and their lives?

I'm sure it's affecting both their careers and lives negatively. Dealing with loss is not easy for anyone under any circumstances.

4. Why do you think Slade is going all in on funding Helena’s research? Something personal, or just financial?

I am conflicted about Slade. He's not one-dimensional for sure. But I think he might be doing what he's doing for both personal and financial reasons. It makes sense to me.

5. Is there a moment that you would go back to to start over? Share if you wish to.

I think we all are where we are for a reason, so I'm not sure I'd do that unless it was only to relive a moment. I'd love to go back in time to when my mom and dad were still alive and dancing for us kids again.

6. Lots of stuff happens in Book 1. What do you think so far? Any Ideas on what comes next?

I'm so not into sci-fi and what sci-fi I have read has mostly been light weight. LOL I have a hard time with parallel universes and time travel in general, but so far I'm okay after reading Book 1. So far this book hasn't been difficult and I'm not loving it but I do like it as in it's all right.

7. On a lighter note, would you prefer drinking Old Grand-Dad and Coors, or the ’47 Cheval Blanc?
And, did anyone else keep thinking of chipmunks when Helena was being mean to the mice?

I don't like beer, I don't like whiskey (or the smell of it) and I'm not a drinker unless I have a tropical drink when on vacation in Hawaii or Cabo San Lucas, so no. I'd not have drunk either. Chipmunks? Uh, no. Did I miss something?

35559 I can read these if we can work them in the chain.

Defending Harlow (Mountain Mercenaries #4) by Susan Stoker 312 pages
At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3) by Jeaniene Frost 342 pages
Resist (Wicked Ways, #1) by K. Bromberg 343
Reveal (Wicked Ways, #2) by K. Bromberg 362
From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata 493
Recursion by Blake Crouch 336 IF we can double dip since I'm reading it for DQ's.

35559 I will be finishing these too by Friday:
Sex, Murder And A Double Latte (A Sophie Katz Murder Mystery, #1) by Kyra Davis 328 pg.
Infini (Aerial Ethereal, #2) by Krista Ritchie 465 pg.
Sep 25, 2019 09:35PM

35559 I finished The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks for the countdown but it has 390 pages so I guess it's not good for the countdown. :(

I'll have Chances (Lucky Santangelo, #1) by Jackie Collins tomorrow but it's 599 pages. Darn it!
