I am officially jealous!
1- If you were a wrestler what would be your entrance theme song? Old Time Rock & Roll by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band because that song always gets me going! After that it would have to be Jesus Take the Wheel by Carrie Underwood because he would have to because I have never fought anyone in my long life of 72 years!2- What is one article of clothing that someone could wear that would make you walk out on a date with them? If a date showed up in a banana G-string and nothing else I couldn't handle it! I'd run for the hills!
3- If a movie was made of your life what genre would it be, who would play you? It would definitely be historical fiction and have MPG of FAMILY! It would have to include a lot of love but heartbreak too.
4- What would the title of your autobiography be? Difficult questions! Hmm...I am so bad at this! The Rainbow after the Storms in Life
5- Chunky or smooth? (Is that just an American thing?) I definitely like both and surely it's not just American, but I only eat smooth.
6- Describe the funkiest pair of shoes you own/ have owned. Wow! Funky? Hmm...well, I did grow up in the 60's along with "free love" and days of the hippies. I would have to say some "clod hoppers" but basically psychedelic platform shoes.
7- Tell us about your pets, or share pictures. We have two dogs, a Bichon Frise named Jazzmine and a Border Collie/Lab mix named Rocky. They are 6 months apart in age. We had a dog named Buddy who was about 8 years old when we got Jazzy, and when she was 6 months old my daughter found a box of abandoned puppies about 5-6 weeks old on the roadway...grrrrrr.. so my husband and I decided to take Rocky. He's been an awesome dog! Jazzy has to be EVERYWHERE I am! If I even change positions in my recliner she jumps up and is ready to follow me until she realizes I am not moving. lol
8- Where is the coolest place you have ever visited? Wow! That's a super difficult one to answer! But Kauai and Kona, Hawaii, Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons would all be right up there. In Hawaii we went up to the volcano Kilauea (the one that erupted in 2018) and we saw it at night time. It was absolutely gorgeous! Balls of fire shooting up in the air (from a long distance!) were awe-inspiring. In Yellowstone the beautiful Old Faithful Geyser and some of the springs such as Grand Prismatic Spring.
9- Where do you want to go next? We have plans to go to Cairn Banff, Canada this summer; however, it is our 3rd attempt since 2020 so we shall see. We have reservations and one of our daughters and her girlfriend are going with us. They are true outdoors women who hike all over the world, so it'll be an amazing trip!
10- And, because we just need to start the book sharing, what are the 5 books you recommend the most to other people?
historical fiction, romance, WWII
contemporary, realistic fiction, abuse, dark
contemporary romance (emotional read)
historical fiction, WWII, Holocaust
contemporary romance, drama (another emotional read) Note: GR rating is 4.57 by 222,623 ratings

It’s great to see our entire team here and ready to play! Next week we leave for Oceanside with one of my daughters and her hubby and their two daughters. We’re eager to hit the beach and relax. I’ll spend part of my indoor time planning for TT so I will be so ready on the 15th! I’m normally a very patient person I am definitely having a hard time waiting for this one! Woot woot! I need a start clock for the countdown! Lol
Helloooooooo Team Achilles! I have to say that I was so excited to see the group of captain and co-captains on this team! I have worked played with each and every one of you and I am thrilled to know you ladies are in charge...thank you!I have also played with a few of our other teammates and see some new ones that I have already sent friend requests to so that we can see each other's shelves and get acquainted.
I have typically read 300 plus per year; however, this year I have only read 34 books due to some RL taking up so much of my time so I simply had to put reading and challenges on the back burner. Things have eased up for now so I had to hop on board again, especially after seeing this challenge posted. It's one of my favorites! I believe this is my fourth one or something like that. Due to my RL this year, I only put in to read 15 books so I will probably also read some more hefty books for us.
Favorite genres: historical fiction, romantic historical fiction, romance, thrillers, especially true psychological thrillers, mystery, fantasy but not so much sci-fi.
Happily married, 5 grown kids, 21 grandkids, 5 greats, and 2 dogs. I can write a book on my grandkids so please forgive me if/when I do! 11 grandsons, 10 granddaughters, 3 great-grandsons, 2 great-granddaughters. Ages range from 27 down to just turned 2. :)
LOVE to travel! @Tammie, we also have plans to go to Banff (our 3rd try) this summer! We travel a lot since I am retired (as of 2017). @Jenny I have 4 grandchildren and all 5 of my greats who live near Phoenix, I think. Three live in Scottsdale and the other I forget the city but there is a GOOD chance I'll visit them in the somewhat near future. When I do I will try to remember that you live there and we can hopefully meet. I have met others from Goodreads in person and it's been great every time!
I look forward to getting to know all of you and to having a lot of fun with this one! SO excited to get started!
And we definitely have the best eye-candy photo! :)
I am dying to get on my team thread, Achilles, but it's not unfrozen yet. I am so ready for this one!
Hello Team Hector...greetings from one of the members on Team Achilles. I couldn't resist the invite to drop in and say hello, especially since our team thread isn't open just yet. I love the eye candy so I might just drop in once in awhile to see what other things have been posted to please the eyes. :)I have played Towers before and it's super fun. You all have a great time and enjoy this fun challenge! :)
I am so excited to get started! I've had very slow reading in 2022 due to RL but am so ready to get back into the swing of things. I am on Team Achilles and was so happy to see that my captains and co-caps are people I love to work with and know most of those on my team. Can't wait to start!
I must agree that I also still notice food words, especially those books with a lot of them. I was hoping we’d have that challenge again. It was really fun!

I really enjoyed being on this team! Thank you so much, Shelby, for all the work you did as captain! I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and happy holidays to those of you celebrating other days I'm unaware of. :)
Shelby wrote: "Vicki - did you see my note? I saw you added some more books to the list, but it doesn't look like The Choice is on your shelf still. Did I miss it somehow?"I'm sorry, I haven't read some of the books that I added but plan to read this week. Is that too confusing? I can remove the unread ones, if you want.
Re: The Choice, I had inadvertently marked the box above my Wheels shelf, so it's correct now. :)
Shelby, for Carry On and Lady of Devices you put "date?" but I had added the dates (or maybe you did?) to both books on the SS already and when I looked at my books, they both had dates posted on them so I don't know if I added after you posted that or not but they are both fine. Are we still reading for FEAST?
At one time you could click on the link & it would show who all tagged something. I’ve used it for that same reason so evidently they changed it. :(
I had two duplicated books, so now my two that needed to be on the shelf show up correctly. Sorry about that.

DQs - Day 3 - Chapter Nine - Twelve10. We are about half way through the book now and I've been looking at the cover and trying to see how it fits with the story. The cover feels dark to me and so far I don't really feel that in the story. Do you feel like the cover fits the story?
One of my favorite things to do is guess about the title and cover of a book before reading it and then finding its significance as I read. Sometimes I'm spot on and other times I'm thrilled by what I discover. Then there are times when it totally baffles me. At that point in the book I couldn't see how the darkness of it fits the storyline.
11. So the old fashioned booksellers in charge might feel the need to remove Susan if they find out her father is one of the Ancients. It seems like Merrihew and Thurston are not greatly respected in the Booksellers realm. How do you feel about them? Do you think they might be involved in what is happening to Susan?
Honestly, I didn't care for either of them but I didn't necessarily get the sense that they're involved.
12. We keep getting all these references to books, musical groups, and other pop culture from the 80's. Take for example this quote: "The ground floor facing the street was all floor-to-ceiling high windows, with a wonderful display of Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose complete with a cardboard castle to the left of the central revolving door, and a selection of new release thrillers an mysteries built up in a series of pyramids in the window to the right, including John Le Carre's The Little Drummer Girl, Jeffery Archer's First Among Equals, and Ken Follett's On Wings of Eagles." That sentence is long and the following one is not much shorter. How do you feel about all of these references?
I have no problems with allusions in stories, and in fact I tend to enjoy them. What I don't like so much are lengthy sentences where you finally say, "Huh?"
13. In the last section Vivian gives Susan a steel knife and salt and tells her how to bind something to herself. Do you think she will have to bind something? Any idea who or what she will bind?
Of course I had an idea that Susan would have to bind something but I had no idea who, what, or why.

DQ's - Day 2 - CHAPTER 5 to CHAPTER 86. Merlin and Susan get pulled into the May Fair. "The happiness is unsettling, all the smiling and laughing". Was there a part of the fair that stuck out to you? And would YOU have noticed the colorless rose?
I guess what stuck out to me the most was the creepy description of the children. I'm sure whether I noticed the colorless rose would have been contingent on exactly where it was in juxtaposition to other things, but I'm guessing probably not.
7. Susan seems to have some sort of powers of command, which we see with the wolf at the end of the fair, and hear more about at the end of Chapter 8. What are your guesses about her heritage? Do you have any new guesses about her father?
I've finished the book already, but at that point in the book I kept thinking that because he seemed so powerful that he might be the King Fae.
8. My favorite part of these chapters was reading about the New Bookstore and its contents. If you could spend time in there, what would you want to check out?
I would definitely book checking out historical fiction (one of my favorite genres, the hard book covers because I am a cover freak, and I'd look for books by some of my favorite authors.
9. The grandmothers were interesting. Any thoughts about them? If I were one of the grandmothers, I'd totally be hanging out with my mastiff. What would you have keeping you company?
I'd most definitely want both of my dogs to hang out with. One is Jazzmine who is a small, 12 pound white Bichon Frise and Rocky who is about 75 pounds and is a border collie.
