“Sometimes love didn't spring up on you in a moment of blinding clarity. Sometimes it crept up on you on a Tuesday night while you were standing at the sink doing dishes, the feeling settling into your soul in a way that made it too heavy to ignore anymore.”

“Jasper felt the sadness then. A strong sensation of being pulled underwater, of being helpless to do anything but sink. Further into the despair. Until it completely surrounded you. Until every breath you took was just swallowing more pain. Until you were in so deep that there wasn't any hope of ever breaking the surface again.”

“What?” Eric said, leaning closer and kissing her cheek. “Never had a man pay for dinner before?”
“I usually try to pay.”
“Of course you do,” he said, his tone somehow both teasing and kind.
“Well... society being what it is... when a man pays for a meal he generally expects more than a thank you.”
“Boys,” he said, his voice a bit disgusted. “expect more than a thank you. A man is just happy to spend a few hours in your company.”

Can't wait to see what you think! I actually think I prefer the story from his POV. Plus, we get an epilogue :)

Dislike men? No, not at all. I probably do read more female-written stories because I like to read female driven stories though. That being said, Thomas Hardy and Ken Follett are flawless. I forgot there even WAS a favorite author list. I haven't updated mine in years. I need to get on top of that.
Consider it an oversight, not an intentional dig at male authors. I should probably diversify a bit more in the future. So thanks for pointing that out.
And thank you! I've spent a lot of time on the whole "getting my name out there" thing. Slowly, but surely.

You have a great platform. The readers that find your materiel are fortunate.
