Chapters 16-21
11. The fight with Raff's old band (who looked like clowns) that ended with snakes is one of the first times we see the almost full band working together. What did you think of this scene? Did you like the action or was it confusing?
I thought it was well done - have a glimpse as to how they would have been. Loved the spell gone wrong with the snakes!!
12. So the hoarder kobolds - I thought they were great! And the bird-like creatures pulling the carriage. Do you have a favorite creature you've seen so far, or one you'd like to see? Tell why.
No favourites but I do like that the author is using lots of different creatures and doesn’t have the need to do endless descriptions. Keeps the story and action flowing
13. I think in the last half of this section we really start understanding what a big deal the Kings of Wyld really were. And we get to compare them to the Screaming Eagles. What do you think about the ethics and popularity of the new bands that kill captive monsters in arenas?
Well this was interesting when Clay muses on if hunting them in the wild is any different to an arena. I’m not sure there is much difference either if the monsters in the old are just minding their own business and they are hunting them for fun
14. Lastleaf gave his (and the hordes') motivations for conquest. Do you think his reasons were valid, or is he just evil? Do you feel at all sorry for the monsters?
I liked that we are given a different and opposite perspective. Has added a nice ethical layer to the book
15. We all picked our favorite character in day 1 questions. Has yours changed since then?
No. Clay is still my favourite although I do quite like the rest of the band too as we get to know them more

It is now showing in your TT shelf - thanks!

Chapters 9 - 15
6. We meet the 3rd member of the band, the wizard Moog. What are your impressions of the wizard? Were you as surprised as Clay that he agreed to go right away?
I love his character. That whole wacky wizard thing going on. I wasn’t surprised as this is an adventure and he is otherwise just literally withering away.
7. That was some entrance to the palace, don't you think? What were your first impressions of Matrick? Were you surprised by the turn of events in chapter 11? Excited or worried when Moog announces that he had a plan?
All of this was unexpected but I really enjoyed how it all unfolded and played out. I am excited about the plan !
8. After several descriptions sprinkled thoughout the story thus far, we finally meet a druin. What do you think his plan is? Why does he really want the Council to stand down?
Love the wyvern entrance! There is more going on here I think than what we have been told so far
9. Were you surprised at how Lillian arranged the funeral? What did you think of Clay's contribution? How successful would you rate Moog's plan?
Did make me wonder if she suspected he wasn’t really dead and figured that would do the job. Great plan but I also agree with Clay that she will find out soon enough
10. Gabriel borrows Moog's crystal ball to check on his daughter. Were you surprised at what he saw? What did you think of the band's reaction?
Not surprised I guess but a little worse than we would have hoped for. Gabriel’s reaction was probably to be expected but I wish he hadn’t ruined the crystal ball as that seems like a handy thing to have around!

haha love the idea of a zombie run

Saar The Book owl wrote: "I've read 'Red, white&royal blue' a while ago and I liked it, to my surprise."
It was very cute. And I like the author using a female divorced president with a mixed-race gay child living in the white house. Definitely appreciated the author trying to show what diversity could look like at the top!!
It was the whole drama of them being together that I found was dragged out. But, I also accept it isn't my usual genre and lots of people loved it so I'm not going to quibble haha

He was really good. I thought he went between the US and UK accents quite well - no cringeworthy moments of accent attempts! Also had me believing in the romance which can be hard with audio when it is the same narrator playing both parts sometimes

Gtk- I have this from the library to hopefully listen to this month!

I read it for this challenge, and it is not my usual genre. So although I thought it was very sweet and very funny at times, it was also a bit long :o

I read it for the audiobook challenge, and it is not my usual genre. So although I thought it was very sweet and very funny at times, it was also a bit long :o

Oh yes ye old "mens books". It is almost as bad as having a whole genre called "womens fiction". gives me the eye twitches

Had the added distinction of being the oldest unread audio in my library. Glad to not have to keep scrolling by it now, lol."
Well done! I really want Jasper Fforde to finally write Red Side Story for the same reason. It has been on my tbr since 2012 and I don't know if to just leave it there or remove it. Every time I open up my list it is staring at me!

haha

AAANNNDDD I finally did it. I finished and ended up totally enjoying

wow that is commitment to have to read a guide to a book along side the book! well done
I know nothing really of Scottish history so I would be completely lost by the sounds of things trying to read The Game of Kings!

Ch 1 to CH 8
1.) What do you think of the premise of the book, like an aging rock band getting back together to go on tour but an adventuring band instead? Is the author pulling it off so far?
Oh I think it is so fun. Totally into it and already told my husband he needs to read it
2.) The rocks, may of hit me a bit in the feels. Did it affect your opinion of Gabe at all?
Oh that was so lovely. Such a good insight into his character. Good strategy from the author to character build
3.) How do you like the world building, is it being done effectively for you without major info dumping? Is it helping to set the stage for the story?
The style has really grabbed me as it isn't a high fantasy info dump. Love that it is just clues and hints along the way and doesn't impede the story
4.) What did you think about the parade? Did anyone else enjoy Clay's reaction to the ladies being whistled at and be disappointed when the lady blew a kiss back instead of skewering the guy (like Clay expected to happen)?
haha. too funny. Absolutely a poke from the author around IG culture and how ridiculous it is
5.) Do you have a favorite character so far?
Clay. But then we haven't met too many yet I guess
Bonus: Taking a poll for a very important question. On the Tassel Farm: Centaur or Moose?
Centaur. More interesting ;)
