BOM: Yes and I answered questions
Goals: Alternate history? Would it count for that? There are alternate Londons that are traveled between. Alternate History does show up on the first page of shelves.

January 9th DQ
33. Lila asks Beloc"How do you want to die?" and he answers "Quickly". If you were in Lila's position would you be able to kill Beloc in order to get to Astrid?
I want to say yes, but I don't know.
34. What did you think of the fight scene and the twin's deaths? Any favorite parts?
I liked Astrid's end.
35. Kell and Lila kiss! What did you think of this scene? Where you expecting anything different?
It was sweet. I almost even missed it since it was so quick.
36. Lila was able to travel back to Red London without the rock. How do you think this is possible? Do you think this will be explained in the next book?
I'm pretty sure she's an Antari despite being from Grey London. The missing eye is a big clue that she is. I don't know how many books are planned but I'm sure it will come back up.
37. How did you like the book's ending? What rating did you give the book?
So how does it work for BOM if you've read the book within six months? Can I still get points for writing DQs or discussing?

Chapters III – IV, pages 58 - 108
06. "Lila Bard lived by a simple rule: if a thing was worth having, it was worth taking."
We are introduced to the Shadow Thief. Do you enjoy "tomboy" heroines in literature? What's your favourite female lead in a book?
I like female heroes of all types. I can't say I'm a big fan when they put down things that are feminine. Well rounded ones are much more interesting. My favorite is Alanna from The Song of the Lioness Quartet. She is a tomboy, as in the first book she dresses as a boy in order to become a knight. But she doesn't ignore the fact that she's female and in particular in the second book works to learn how to be a lady as well as a knight.
07. "Looking for trouble, he’d say. You’re gonna look till you find it.
Trouble is the looker, she’d answer. It keeps looking till it finds you."
Which side are you on, on this debate and why?
I think there's a reason those of us who stay in reading don't get into much trouble.
08. "Our throne is not something you’re born to. It’s not held by blood. But taken by it."
The Dane siblings and Holland seem to keep a cruel balance among them. Can you identify any clear leader among them? Will this unholy trinity last? What might keep them from going for each other's throat?
I'm sure all of them think they are in control. Holland is being controlled so likely not him.
09. We are now introduced to all 3 Londons. If you could live in any of them which would you choose?
Red. I like magic.
10. Kell has the bad habit of carrying trinkets from one London to the next. Is the law against it reasonable? What are your thoughts on the package the woman gave him?
I would guess it has to do with black london's fall and is an attempt to not allow the different realms to influence each other. I think the package will be a bad idea, but one that will likely kick off the action in this book.

Team Moirai:A Darker Shade of Magic DQs
Day 1: Jan 2
Chapters I – II Read Royal, pages 1 - 57
Q1. Kell has a very interesting Jacket. Have you read a story before that has items of clothing like his? If so what story does it remind you of?
Not specifically where the item can change. It does remind me a bit of the Howls Moving Castle movie with the cloak that made the boy look like an old man with a beard.
Q2. Going between worlds, multiple Londons with names of colors to distinguish them, the year 1819. Are you able to keep track of Kell’s travels? To keep up with the world building?
I think we've only seen gray and red so I've been fine so far.
Q3. Kell is an Antari (Blood Magic), a dying breed, one of the rare few that can do magic. Kell used his special coins and his blood to travel between worlds. Do you think he is a blood mage? Or does he have a darker kind (shade) of magic since he uses his blood? Or is it just part of Antari training?
Not sure, I feel it's too early to tell.
Q4. How do you feel about the Collectors and the Enthusiasts?
Where there is a potential for a market, it usually exists despite the laws.
Q5. Are you enjoying the book so far?
Yes, it's pretty early to decide further. It has drawn me in but not ensnared me so far. I'm excited to read more.

NOS4A2 was good, I didn't even realize it was shelved as vampires. There are some things referred to as vampire-like in terms of appearance I think but no traditional vamps. But I did enjoy it, very creepy. I've actually never read Stephen King book but I've seen a few movies based on his books. I'm not a fan of horror movies (I blame my active imagination) but I can do horror books on occasion.
I'm joining A Darker Shade of Magic discussion. I had volunteered for DQs but didn't get picked. I read Winter in November so I can't join that one.
