Finished this book today. There were so many things I had completely forgotten!
I remembered
(view spoiler)[the Mistress of the dead and how Kate had to fight her using her own blood, while trying to not let on that she used her blood. I always had the feeling that it was too easy (if killing hundreds of vampires and nearly die in the process can be called easy..) But I couldn't for the life of me remember who the other bad guy was (hide spoiler)]I just have to smile at how Kate and Curran are circling each other!
(view spoiler)[ Their fight after Kate let the Crusader go was a entertaining, especially since "daddy" Mahon had to break them apart=P They are always trying to goad the other, finding out what makes them react and just how much power they are hiding (hide spoiler)]

Finished the rest of the book in one go. Not really sure what I think of this particular book on its own. It is more or less a transition to the next big book, enlightening all the issues that is brewing and probably will explode later on.
I heard before reading this book that many readers
(view spoiler)[ got fed up with Nesta's behavior and I must say I agree. She is awful! I admired her before since she was so fierce and protective of Elain, but it has turned into bitterness, disdain and spite. Clearly she struggles to accept what she has become and is traumatized, like her fear of going into a bathtub after the Cauldron. But she lashes out and basically forces the others to cut her out. And yet she is hurt when they actually do something about it (the preview to next book). I truly hope Cassian is able to get through to her in the end. (hide spoiler)]
Snowtulip wrote: "Chapter 18 [spoilers removed]"I agree. He is really not in a good place these days. I have high hopes for
(view spoiler)[ Lucien and Elain, this book might suggest Azriel becoming involved in the situation, though I am not quite sure in which way. To be revealed later I suppose (hide spoiler)]

Did some listening while walking the dog today. It is so funny picturing
(view spoiler)[ Vernon's face when they received the letter from Molly by regular post rather than owl, it really didn't make it much better anyway. Anything magic related is bound to make his face turn purple=P (hide spoiler)]I must say that Harry in general is coping very well with being mistreated at home, you might even go as far as calling it an abusive home. There isn't really mentioned much psychological trauma caused by this part of his childhood. Not really something I wanted to discuss, it is more of an observation as I am re-reading the books.

Chapter 1-4
Kate is really one sassy person, I am amazed at how she always has a line ready. Though I think she sometimes talks before she speaks...=P
I get the vibe that there is a lot left unsaid about
(view spoiler)[ what made Kate and Greg distant. I' guessing this is something that will be revealed later on. But he is clearly still important enough to her that she is willing to find the person who did it and kill him (hide spoiler)]Is it just me or
(view spoiler)[ did anyone else feel that the tension between Kate and Curran wasn't just a power competition thing, but that there was some possible chemistry lying underneath? And that he is not used to being verbally challenged?=P (hide spoiler)]

I definitely enjoyed reading this again and I can only say, it gets better from here. I do think this is a good introduction to Ilona Andrews and this series in particula..."If you noticed
(view spoiler)[how careful she was with never leaving her blood anywhere, that might be a clue. There is also the power words, words that not any normal magic person can handle, and the fact that she has 6 from the start is saying something (hide spoiler)]

EDIT: Or does the object have to be on the first cover as well, but not in the same..."Good idea. I think Sonia gave some extra examples, but I can't quite remember which thread:P

I'm at chapter 11 at the moment, will probably finish by tomorrow.
I truly like that we get more POVs in this book. Seeing things from several sides gives a new depth to the story and might illustrate that everything is not as black and white as it may seem.
Some thoughts so far:
(view spoiler)[I nearly fell of my chair when I read that Feyre is only 21. I had completely forgotten that she was this young. In so many areas she behaves like someone much older. Though my friend, who just finished the book, pointed out that in some situations in previous books she clearly thought and acted her age.
It is clear that everyone carries wounds from the war and are struggling to heal, or at least start processing their memories. Some people are unhappy even though they won, because the losses were so great and it is hard to move on.
The scene where Ressina tells Feyre that the artists remember what she did for them , that is really a touching scene, filled with emotions. (hide spoiler)]

In for team Remus Lupin. I might be able to start tomorrow or the day after (in which case I will try to catch up=) )

Yeah, I suppose it should work just fine there as well=) Hah, Cat's suggestion was quite genious:P
EDIT: Or does the object have to be on the first cover as well, but not in the same spot (like teacup in shelf, but table on cover as well - teacup on table)?

Think I found an option for the banishing charm. The covers in the Darkblood Secret Society series which I have been reading all have a male in a suit on the cover. BUT #4 has a tie while #2 has no tie, only an open shirt = Tie banished. You think that could work? (#2 is currently used for DADA Fire, but both #1 and 3 can be used there in stead)

Btw, have those of you that have seen the movie noticed that more or less all the boys are having a really bad hair day?=P

I finished the book today.
I had no recollection of Snape
(view spoiler)[losing it completely. You can practically see his eyes bulging and hear him yelling in rage when Black escapes. His hatred for the other men is clearly written. (hide spoiler)]I am also curious as to why Harry doesn't ask Dumbledore
(view spoiler)[ what Trelawney's other true prophecy was, when he revealed that she had had one before. It is a clear hint to the fifth book, but if it were me I would have wanted to know, given the severity of the one she gave Harry. (hide spoiler)]

Gotten through all the way to chapter 15 today. Is it just me or is it hard to see the characters as 13 year olds? They feel more like 16 at least...
When reading about the train ride
(view spoiler)[ I had forgotten the complete mayhem is was when it stopped and the lights went out. People were falling all over each other, quite funny=) (hide spoiler)]Remus Lupin has always been one of my favorite characters, though I am not quite sure why. It might be because
(view spoiler)[ the students actually learn something in his class. He doesn't look down on the kids, but give them the respect they earn. He is also putting up with Snape's bad attitude while struggling against his werewolf side. (hide spoiler)]Divination. Now that is quite a class. A lot of humbug going on there I would guess. But the thing I thought of when reading this time around was that
(view spoiler)[ even though they all thinks it is bogus when the teacher continuously reads the Grim in Harry's future, she might actually be seeing a big dog in the leafs/crystal ball, just interpreting it wrong. I mean, Sirius Black is constantly hanging around Harry as a big black dog and will become a part of his future=P (hide spoiler)]
