We recently had one of our teammates leave. Would this be the place to see if anyone would like to join us?

So I realized today that the book I was going to read for Task #2 is middle grade and, as it's not out yet, I can't verify the word count on AR Bookfinder. So I'm switching it up and reading
The Nickel Boys instead.

Just finished The Handmaid’s Tale for the 1001 list tasks! I would request editing access, but it’s midnight and I must go to sleep. Great book, though!

As for you list, I know
This Is How You Lose the Time War is definitely MPG (main page genre) sci-fi and I would assume the Star Wars one is, as well.

I could read
The Handmaid's Tale for task #6 and
Child of the Dream for task #2. Depending on how long this countdown is going to be, I'll keep looking through my books to see if I can add anything else.

With that in mind, here's the list for round 2:
10. A title that starts with O
9. Set in Canada
8 Tagged MPG Sci-Fi
7. That is more than 50% black (use tin eye to confirm)
6. From the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die List. For this task, you can use books that would otherwise not be allowable for the challenge (e.g. due to wordcount or genre)
5. That has one of the 50 states of the USA in the title
4. That is more than 400 pages
3. That has the letters C-A-T in the title (in any order)
2. Written by an African American author
1. From the NPR List

I agree with Zuza. I don't think we'd have time to complete the safezone stuff and then we'd get docked even more points!

It seems like the Safezone groups are worth more points, so maybe that's the way to go if we want to try and make up for our lost points.

I asked and it looks like the time frame for us to complete our initial tasks is random, but we have still have two weeks total. At least, that's how I'm interpreting it? Here's the thread:

Ahh, I get it now. Thank you!

I'm confused about the countdown. It says we'll be at zero in two days, but I thought we got two weeks to complete the initial tasks? Perhaps I missed an announcement?

Hmm, I'm confused... cause in the "Ask the Volcanologist" thread, one of the top Q&A's is:
◈Q: How long does the team have to complete the initial list of tasks?
◈A: Two weeks!
The aim is to read the 10 countdown tasks and then as many of the safezone groups as possible in the two weeks :)
Are we only getting one week now?

So I finished my first book!
Task #3 - Part of what was an originally planned trilogyBook:

On to
Daisy Jones & The Six :)

So according to the "volcanologists", you don't have to read the audio version, so I could take care of #4 by reading
Daisy Jones & The Six.
Zuza wrote: "@ Kerri try the "ask the volcanologist" thread. It might be there."Good idea, Zuza! Thanks :)

I have a question about #4. It says we have to read something where the audio version has more than four narrators. Does that necessarily mean we have to listen to the audiobook or would reading the physical version still count as long as the audiobook has the required number of narrators?

I can probably find an audiobook for #4. I have an Audible credit I need to spend anyways!

I'll have to go through my TBR shelf, but nothing is coming to mind at the moment.
Sarah wrote: "I might be able to do #4 but I have to check in audible. It's asking for four different voice actors right? not like.....4 narrators in the story?"I think you're right, there needs to be four or more voice actors, not necessarily narrators. Perhaps one of the mods could better explain it?
