Team Anubis (1682 new)
Oct 20, 2015 11:56AM

35559 Just scrolling through the list of goals and getting excited. I haven't pre-planned my TBR list like M, though I admire the forethought! I usually pick from my pile as I go. I'm terrible at pre-planning, heh...

As for work, I'm a medical laboratory scientist. I currently work in an Air Force reference lab and I love it! It has it's moments where it can be a little slow, like right now, but it's a great job.

35559 Hello, teammates! I'm Kerri and I live in Ohio with my husband, two kiddos, and three cats.

I'm more of a book a week type of gal, mostly because of work and kids. I love reading and just recently got back into it more full force. I'm excited for this challenge because I think it'll push me back into reading even more! I have quite a few books on my bookshelf that need to be read.

Anyways, I look forward to getting to know everyone and to kicking butt at this challenge :D

In response to your question, Emily, (view spoiler)

As for favorite tents, I already mentioned mine would be the Cloud Maze. I think that would just be so much fun to play in! The Menagerie would also be pretty cool, as I love animals and wandering through a bunch of paper/metal ones would be pretty awesome. I'd probably visit the Illusionist quite a bit because who doesn't love a good bit of magic? And the Labyrinth would be amazing to wander through! Apparently, I would just be in love with the whole thing, heh.

As to Constance's question (Would you want to know what was really going on, or would you want to simply enjoy it the circus for the entertainment?), part of me would like to be kept in the dark because it's just that much more enchanting when you don't know everything that's going on. The other part of me is entirely too inquisitive and would want to know how all these amazing feats are being pulled off. I feel like I would give into the 'wanting to know' part eventually and I honestly don't think, in the case of Le Cirque des Reves, that it would detract from the enchantment since, after all, we are talking about *real* magic.

35559 Like Emily, I really enjoyed the second person sections. I have heard that remark about shifting perspectives before, as well, but I don't think it detracted from this particular book. I really enjoyed that the first little snippet started out in the second person. It drew me in immediately.

I really enjoyed this book. It felt so incredibly immersive, like if I happened to glance up after reading about a certain tent, I would find myself actually standing in it. The whole effect was enchanting. If I had to choose a favorite tent, who would have to be the Cloud Maze. Who hasn't dreamed of playing in the clouds??

I'm currently on my phone, so I'm going to leave it at this for now. I'm excited to talk about this book more, though!

35559 Hello! My name is Kerri and I am looking forward to participating in this club.

Birthday: Sept 17th

Favorite Book(s): You really want me to pick just one? Well... when I was younger, it was anything by James Herriot and The Westing Game. Now, I'm pretty stuck on the whole A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Favorite Book Genre: Definitely fantasy/sci-fi. I'll pick up anything I run across in the fiction section if it looks interesting, but that genre is my go-to.

Favorite Author: I can't pick just one! There's the aforementioned Mr. Herriot, J.K. Rowling, George R.R. Martin, Neil Gaiman... so many.

Favorite Color: Any shade of blue!

Favorite Food: Sushi. Or anything sweet. The sweet-tooth is strong in me.

Any Pets: 3 cats; Felicia, Nelson, and Marmalade.

If I could live anywhere in the world it would be: Specific or a general idea? Generally, somewhere isolated and close to water where it's warm all the time. Specifically, New Zealand looks pretty fantastic.

Finish the line: I know I'm a book addict because.... I can't leave a bookstore without at least purchasing one book, yet I have a giant stack of To-Be-Read books at home. I can't control myself...
