just got finished late last night, and then I stayed up all night not happy. Another genocide book like Half of a Yellow Sun - I guess I can see why there were on my list for so long - such a sad topic. I will move on to more cheerful reads probably. But I'm glad I finally read it.

I've had this on my shelf for several years but just could..."That has been on my list for almost 10 years now! Good job getting it read.

I've never seen the movie, but I loved the musical.

I love that book bond with your dad, Sammy - you started my day off with a smile describing that.
You started me on my Robert McCammon adventure too! I haven't read much yet, but I will!
@Eldarwen - I have Eon at my house because my daughter read it - I didn't have it on my TBR - but it is now!

This is the only type of "spring cleaning" i really enjoy!
I visited my 81-year-old dad this week. He's always been a huge science fiction reader and not liked fantasy. I share my kindle account with him (eep - I hope he never reads a certain hedgehog shifter book), and he was raving about 1) Anne Bishop's the Others series 2) the Innkeeper Series and 3) Kate Daniels. It makes me surprised and happy - he was NOT in my expected demographic for those!

I deleted another book from my shelf -
The Watchmaker's Daughter - it may be good - but it is tagged as YA, reviews said nothing really resolved in the first book, and its a 13 book series. I just have too many other things. (I'm personally not counting books I eliminate as part of my challenge, but I wanted to record it here to assuage my guilt or something).
I also read
(on my shelf since 2016). I enjoyed it a lot - maybe I read it at just the right time, but yes, loved it.
I listened to, and just finished
- on my shelf since 2015. I can't say I enjoyed it exactly, because it was about the civil war/genocide in Nigeria. Recent world events resonated with this - and what is even sadder that probably for the last 60 years we could say that about some conflict or another. Anyway, it was an important book for me to read, but I can also see why I didn't read it for so long.

I listened to
, which I've owned for 7 years. It was ok - a bit boring but not horrible. I liked the parts that described the quarantine with the 1918 flu epidemic, coming on top of the war. It was interesting to see the parallels, written at a time before current events.

Oops - posted the non-audible - but I listened on audible so it looked almost identical. Just a short zombie book.

Oh that does look like a good series - I readlly liked A Boy's Life that you introduced me to!
I read almost the same cover!

Oh nice - that one is on my TBR - I'm glad it's a good book!

Lol it's good to live in eternal hope, Sammy.

I remember
The Chocolate War and
Ralph Ellison's The Invisible Man being disappointing in High School - mostly because the books weren't at all what my immature brain was expecting from the title.

Me too - and that re-reading adds even more to the TBR. I guess they would be TRR (to re-read) books?

I noticed that I am almost always reading new releases - thank goodness for this challenge. I'm super behind, but also motivated to pick up at least a few older books :)
I just finished
which I've had on my TBR since 2016! And today I will fnish
which has been on the list since 2015.
As an added bonus, that finishes two series for me that should have been read long ago.
I enjoyed Gail Carriger - I usually do. I didn't really enjoy (or am not really enjoying) End of Days. It just has some YA (or things I associate with YA) elements I don't like. But on the plus side, it doesn't have a love triangle!

Thanks - that was fun to see some of the history of this book!
And Tina - I agree about Ellen. I sure want to know more about her backstory. And
(view spoiler)[ the peeing on the book - boy probably not a good idea. But it did make her HAVE to leave -and showed how impulsive she is. (hide spoiler)]With Jack
(view spoiler)[ his whole train of thought with setting the roof on fire seemed spot on to me for a young kid. (hide spoiler)]I am now reluctantly putting this down for Uno. I'm hoping my teammates overread, so I can come back to this book :) I'm really really enjoying it.

This has been super readable - I keep getting sidetracked by netgalley books I should read, and LIFE, but I'm enjoying coming back to this book.
I loved Chapter 2 and Phillip. Probably a favorite part of the book was reading about his first experience as prior. I loved the way he handled everything.
I'm in the midst of Chapter 3. Aliena seems like a perceptive young lady.

Same here - it's just such a waste. Vandalism upsets me a lot.

Good job starting! I love those little free libraries - they are such a good idea.

Wow! I'm seriously impressed. I haven't read much Sherlock Holmes - I bow to you!

I'm in the midst of Chapter 1 - it's long! It has been very readable so far. I too cannot imagine wandering, starving, hungry and pregnant! Yikes.
And I I agree with what Karen said above and the thief - I totally expected them to get at least some money back!
