1. Have you read other books by Andy Weir? Why did you decide to read this BOM?
2. What do you think of Jazz?
3. Do you like Weir’s writing style? Can you visualize Artemis clearly?
4. Are you enjoying the messages between Jazz and her pen pal Kelvin? Why do you think Weir put these in the book? Do you think they will ever meet?
5. Any guesses as to what ZAFO means?
6. What a cliffhanger at the end of chapter 5! What do you think will happen to Jazz now? Will she be caught or find a way out of this situation?

I am speeding through the book. I’ve read the first 15 chapters. The book is well written and well done. (view spoiler) You can read my spoiler after reading chapter 13. I do have one minor complaint so far. (view spoiler) This spoiler isn’t very spoilery. Just an observation I made after reading the first 15 chapters.
Happy reading! I’ll check in later!

#14 Her world building is very lacking. I'm more than half way in the novel and have not really got a good sense of this place.
#15 Very true.
#17 What side did you pick?"
Hero! A rule maker not a rule breaker! :)

Yes.. I think he is isolated to protect others. I am very curious about what his power is!
Hmmm. The Renegades seem good so far. I can’t see them developing a weapon. But I could be wrong.
14. Did you like Nova's first day working for the Renegades? Did you like the description of their headquarters? What about her interaction with the other Renegades?
So far I am finding this a light, fun read. The world building is just okay for me. I do think she will bond with her Renegade team without her even realizing it.
15. I liked the Origin stories they told each other. I thought prodigies were born with their powers, but it seems that is not always the case. What do you think of that? Did you like their stories? Why wouldn't Nova tell them what happened to her family?
Nova is still trying to hide her identity and she probably felt too many details about her past would give her away.
16. How do you think Nova's first assignment is going? What was Detonators plan going in like that? What do you think is going to happen now?
I’ve read ahead so won’t say more!
17. While browsing the internet a little I came across the Renegades website where you can take a quiz to find out your superpower. Here is the link find your superpower.
My superpower is INVISIBILITY: You love spending time by yourself catching up on your favorite TV shows.
What's yours? Which side did you choose?
My superpower was Telekinesis. I am smart and think things through clearly. That was a fun quiz!

8. Ace told Nova that the Renegades did not protect her family and allowed them to be killed. Do you think there may be more to the story?
9. Nova scoffs at the Renegades and wants revenge. Do you think anything can change her mind given why she hates the Renegades so much?
10. Phobia has never been seen without a costume, and they don’t know his real name. Any guesses on who he might be? Will this become important later in the book?
11. What do you think will happen once Sentinel and Nightmare figure out their true identities? Do you think they might be able to work together eventually?
12. What do you think about the world that Meyer has created? Do you find it well developed? Is it living up to your expectations?

"
I agree this book is very different from Fingersmith. And there are quite a few characters to keep track of.

I have read the Lunar Chronicles and enjoyed them. So I wanted to try this new series.
2. In the prologue the setting is pretty bleak before the Renegades come on the scene. The normal people were told to stay inside where it was safe while the Renegades fixed everything. It sounds like with the Anarchists there was no control and maybe with the Renegades there could be too much control. What do you think? Which is worse, no control over the people or too much control over the people?
Both actually. There has to be a happy medium between the two. Many governments today in the real world struggle with this too.
3. Do you have a favorite character yet?
Not really. Although, I do find Adrian interesting with his powers and alter ego.
4. If you could have a super power what would it be? And what would you choose for a super hero name?
My name would be Book Nerd. My super power would be the ability to leap over tall stacks of books! Just kidding!
5. We learn the significance of Nightmare's quote, "One cannot be brave who has no fear." Do you agree with this quote? Where do you think it ultimately comes from?
I don’t know where it comes from. But I have heard debates about this before. Bravery is showing no fear in dangerous situations. A superhero definitely has the deck stacked in their favor. So I guess I do agree with the quote.
7. In the story the Anarchists want no rules, and this was not good. The Renegades made rules for themselves, but Sketch (Sentinel) seems to think that this is bad. Sketch seems prepared to break the rules. Any ideas where this might lead?
Sketch definitely thinks the Renegades are too busy making rules rather than being superheroes. I think he is more interested in getting justice than following rules. Not sure exactly where it will lead, but I am sure it will be exciting.
6. Are you enjoying the story so far?
Yes, I am!

That’s a good sign!

I agree the ending wasn’t the best. I gave the book 4 stars because, despite the ending, the book was well written and managed to surprise the heck out of me several times.

Good observation. I didn’t realize this until you pointed it out.

Well said! I hope this was true for Maud.
