22. Jazz made a shocking decision to go visit Billy after no contact with him. He asks G William to help him get in quickly. Why do you think Jazz finally made the decision to visit Billy? Would you trust what Billy tells you?
No. Billy isn’t to be trusted. But Jazz wanted any help he could get to prevent another murder.
23. Why do you think Billy’s request to Jazz about moving the birdbath signified? Do you believe it was a signal? Or just another way to mess with Jazz's head?
Good question. I took it at face value that it was a signal. Never thought it was just a way to mess with Jazz. I do feel sorry for Jazz, having a father like that!
24. The Impressionist tells Jasper that he was never supposed to talk to him or see him, which leads me to believe he was taking orders from someone. Do you think Billy was telling the truth about not having contact with him? Do you have any theories of who is pulling his strings?
It seems like Billy could be the one telling the Impressionist what to do. I hope the other books tell us more!
25. The Impressionist has a pretty terrifying trophy in his finger belt! What do you think is the significance of the dual “L-O-V-E” and “F-E-A-R” tattoos?
It means the Impressionist is either in contact with Billy or has been able to get detailed information about Billy through the web.
26. “Sure you are. You just ain’t killed no one yet.” Do you think Jazz killed his mother? Or is Billy messing with his head with the note?
I hope he is just messing with him. Billy is such a terrible father!
27. Final thoughts of the book and overall rating? Are you intrigued enough to continue on with the series?
I enjoyed the book more than expected. So I put the other 2 books in my wishlist at the library. I will definitely read later!

Audiobooks can be great. I love listening while I do chores or cook. Makes the work more fun for me. But it does take getting used to. My husband cannot multi task like that. But I have been doing it for years. The narrator is important too. The narrator for this book isn’t the best!

I have to finish Day Shift tonight, and then I'll start this one. I should be able to wrap up Day Shift this evening, although I have a lot of life stuff ..."
No worries. I’ve got some stuff going on which will slow me down some. I probably won’t finish until next Monday or so. Enjoy your father’s visit!

What a story, what a journey. I liked the idea and some aspects of the book, but there were so many things that I just couldn't take.

I listened to the audio and it really creeped me out too!

14. After sharing his theory and brainstorming, Jazz totally manipulated Connie and Howie to get them to go with him to look for evidence instead of calling the Sheriff. (And we've seen him manipulate a lot of people, especially women, before.) What do you think about this behavior?
It is a little worrying because of his past. But I still feel that if he is aware of his actions, he is less likely to become his father.
15. Jazz spends a lot of time taking care of his Grandmother, and she is awfully toxic. Why do you think he is so determined to stay with her instead of going to a foster home? Is Melissa right to decide to move him out?
His grandmother is the only family he has left. And I’m sure Jazz worries what type of foster family would take him in. Better the devil you know!
16. Wow the scene with Ginny was very intense. What did it make you think of with regards to Jazz - his feelings of pleasure conflicting with trying to help? Do you like him any less or more?
His father’s teachings have really warped him. But I like that he was able to overcome his feelings and realized what was the right thing to do.
17. Erickson keeps showing up and being pretty abusive? Is he a red herring or something more? (Ha I guess don't answer this if you have read this book before - unless you remember what you thought at the time.)
I actually don’t think it’s Erikson. He is the obvious bad guy. But I have been wrong before. I actually think it may be someone like Jeff Fulton. We keep seeing him as well. He seems suspicious to me.
18. How did the Impressionist know about Jazz's room (or did he?)? Do you think he is going to interact even more with Jazz now, even though it is against orders?
I think the Impressionist was angry that Jazz found him in the middle of a kill and almost caught him. Not sure if he knew about the room. But he was sending a message for sure!
19. The scene with the dog and learning not to cry was really horrific. I think that interposed with the scene where he cries when talking to Connie are important. Any thoughts?
He cares for Connie and likely allows himself to be more vulnerable with her.
20. Speaking of Connie, what do you think about what she said to Jazz in Chapter 28?
She was very frustrated with Jazz when she said what she did. I don’t necessarily agree with what she said, but I can understand it.
21. Is it right for the Sheriff to have Jazz help in the investigation?
Jazz really does know a lot about his father’s killings. But he is just a kid still. I know the police does not want him to investigate on his own!

I found the guy with the booming voice hilarious. And yeah, it would be great to have the metabolism of a shifter! LOL
Jul 16, 2018 02:54PM

."
That’s a difficult question to answer for me! There are always disadvantages to every choice. It would be fun to be a shifter, though. I would love to be able to fly like a bird. Not sure I’d want to be a healer since every time I used the power, my life would be shortened by a day. Selfish of me, I know! LOL

I am finding the anomalies interesting too.(view spoiler)
And Roxy. Her story was surprising. (view spoiler) I really want to find out what happens to Roxy! LOL

.Speaking of the religion, I wonder in what ways Allie and Mother Eve are separate, and how they’re the same - obviously Mother Eve is the role she plays as the prophet, but I think they don’t always appear to be the same person with the same interests/end goal"
That is really interesting to me too! Mother Eve “talks” to Allie. I don’t think they are one and the same. That is why they sometimes differ, I think. I really do find their conversations interesting!

No real plans here either. My oldest is getting ready to move into an apartment which somehow seems more distressing then a dorm room freshman year or the sorority house ..."
Awww...I can understand your worry over your children growing up. But I am sure they will go on to do great things!
And books are the best way to escape. Not always a bad thing!

Darn! I didn’t realize it was that expensive. I used a precious credit on Audible.
