35559 I'm having trouble finishing books again. Not starting them, I'm very good at that. :D One added to the spreadsheet for yestereday - In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware for RIND. I'm chipping away at the Reindeer in title book.

I think you captains are doing a great job. I personally like everything in one thread because then I only have to read one thread. :D

Can't get that one, but I can read The Reindeer People for title.

I'm happy about this call. I've been putting aside E and I books all week.

Has any one else here read it?"

I liked the first three books very much and I'm not a romance reader (although I love time travel). And the 850 pages goes fast. Not sure about the character names for BROWN though. Definitely an R, maybe a B, can't think of any Ws offhand and I don't think the N I am thinking of shows up until the 2nd book.

35559 I tried to read longer books this week but it just didn't work out. So I finished two shorties yesterday and added them to the spreadsheet. And I have one more on the go that I will finish before the deadline today.

This was my first reading and I loved it. Except the dog killing. Please tell me that doesn't continue through the series.

No problem. I have trouble reading series out of order too. If I read the first 2-3 at least, then I don't mind as much. But starting at #18 might not be as enjoyable. :D

35559 I've been trying to get hold of a copy of The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White but no luck. I'm not going to pay that much money for YA (which I generally don't love). So, hopefully someone else here will be reading for the extra points?
35559 Abbie DiscoSuperFly wrote: "One thing I didnt see here much was about the issue with Rachels dad. If you just found this out, would your first response be to see him in prison?"

Wouldn't have been my first choice, but I think I might be a little weird in this respect. Books, TV and movies always have people desperate to find out about their 'birth" parents. If I found out today that I was adopted, I wouldn't really care, unless there were medical issues.

I guess I truly don't understand how being adopted would make you feel bad. Someone picked you! You weren't just an accident of genetics, you were chosen. My brain just doesn't understand feeling abandoned. Either the birth parents couldn't take care of you and wanted you to go someplace better or you were taken away from them for a reason. I guess I'm a nurture over nature person.

If I found out my birth father was in prison, my first thought wouldn't be to go visit. I would at least find out the story before I even considered it. I get the feeling Rachel would have visited him no matter what if he was her actual sperm donor. Why people deliberately inflict horrible people on themselves? Most people in prison for violent crime are not good at heart. My opinion anyway.
