@Claudia i think it's kind of explained a bit later in this book [although it has also already been touched on a bit] but basically it's just (view spoiler)[that she has so many different bloodlines in her and it makes her 'crazy' or whatever. which is like ...probably my least favorite part of this series tbh. i mean i get that they are literally different kinds of creatures and it's maybe not so great if someone is like ... part cat / part mermaid / part something else entirely but also the continued talk of 'mixed bloodlines make you go crazy eventually' is not great if you're thinking of it in a real world kind of way. although i know she didn't do that on purpose but sometimes i'm still just like #yikes when it talks about raysel or the queen and attributes their behavior to their bloodlines (hide spoiler)]

ok i read chapters 1-9. so excited for this book, a lot of shit really goes down. in this first section mainly that (view spoiler)[the queen isn't a real heir to the last king and that arden is really supposed to be queen (hide spoiler)] but if i'm remembering right we have like 3 more big reveals also in the rest of this book

haha yeah that would definitely be annoying. and i get that sometimes things come up but it literally takes like 2 minutes to get on goodreads and say 'i have to drop out' so at least we know.

i'm reading it now and i just hate the queen so much, like it's very rare that i hate a fictional character THIS MUCH but she's just so awful. i'm excited for what happens next though lol

think it's a good idea too. in tower teams our two reserve players that were added for the last month checked in and then did not read a single thing [and didn't give any reason for why either] and i mean it was still a fun challenge but it was also kind of annoying to have people not participating after they had signed up

i'm also really awful at remembering names unless it's a series i'm familiar with or like the main 2 or 3 people. i didn't realize how bad it was until we did tower teams and i would go to make my post and i was like 'uh ...there was ...a dad ...named ...something with a B???' lol. i guess i shouldn't be so surprised though because i do it with tv shows all the time too.

maybe Michelle will be our good luck charm lol

and some books have a list of characters on their goodreads page right under the summary with all the publishing information but it's usually only for really popular ones. other options would be to read sequels to books where you already know the characters or if there's anything you've been meaning to re-read

Ah okay, I wasn't sure if we could just read random tough letters or what. I guess I could always read the next one if Y comes up later though

i've also got Mage Lessons by Ilana Waters for I for week 1

i was planning on reading the first jane yellowrock book this month so should i save that until the 27th to use for Y in the toughest letters section?

i've been trying to do horror stuff for halloween but it's hard to get in the mood when it's still like 85 degrees outside. luckily the temperature had dropped drastically today and looks it like should stay that way for awhile. i need it to be fall! lol

@Alexandra we can use character names as well as the author / title so if you're just looking at the title / author then maybe that one is using a character name and that's why it doesn't make sense.

for the part that i assume is supposed to saying toughest letters instead of 'thoughtest', are we supposed to just randomly read books with those letters even if they aren't in our word?

ok i just checked and the winter long has potion in it so we can use that

i'm for sure doing Nyota's Tyrannosaur for N and i'll be reading that before the 31st hopefully.

also i'm guessing that since this round starts at 4pm my time on the 27th it will continue until 4pm on the 3rd to make it a whole week? just making sure because i usually try to finish everything up at the end of the month and start new stuff on the 1st so the fact that this first week is split is messing with my planning a bit lol

anyway for november i'm also going to reread Deathwish which has a main character named Promise Nottinger so that works for P and T and The Winter Long which has characters named Simon Torquill and October Daye so that also works for T and O and i average about a book a day so i can get those done in time i'm sure.

i'll try to look to see if any of my planned books have potion in the text later today if we still need that.

I think poison is on the color yellow on the wheel, does that mean we need a yellow cover book or does color not come into it at all?

the 15th, i put in the request for a thread earlier today so hopefully it'll be up soon

yeah but i thought the fairy ointment wasn't to see through glamours and stuff, i thought it was like literally so you could see different parts of faerie. but i guess i'll just believe that it isn't applicable in the deeper realms since a human who got taken there would definitely have to know something is up anyway lol

this book was so good! i might try to participate if i remember it well enough by the middle of next month lol
