You are right about using the cheese books in another mini. The easy countries are worth less points than all the other mini challenges (except cheese). So we have been looking at banking those books for mini 2.

Read a book with the word highway, road, avenue or street in the title (Plurals are acceptable)"

Hidden Valley Road: Inside the Mind of an American Family is a fascinating look at how far we've come in our understanding/treatment of the brain!

And The Mother Road is a cute, fluffy romance.

I'll be honest. It's not even the worst thing I've ever read for a challenge. I once read How I Stole Johnny Depp's Alien Girlfriend for a challenge. Why did my library even have a copy on the shelf?!!?

Libby has the audio for Love Does: Discover a Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World. It's 6 hours, so 3 hours listening for me. I'll put it at the bottom of my list and when I finish my other audios if no one else has a Spirituality book I'll listen to it.

35559 Looks like we just finished our Germany tasks! I'll update the spreadsheet and get a new country spin for us. Remember, we can only use books finished after that spin is announced, for that country.

Never mind. My old eyes thought they saw a finish date for Melissa's book, but they did not.

35559 I finished Agamemnon's Daughter: A Novella and Stories. That's 2 hours I'll never get back. But it is our cheese spell-out safe from the mods!

35559 I’m almost done with Agamemnon’s Daughter. It has an I author and an N translator.

35559 Actually, the mods just said that plurals will be accepted. The tag in question was “review” and they decided that a plural or a variation such as “reviewed” would be okay. But still not a phrase.
May 21, 2025 04:50AM

35559 The tags have to be exact.

35559 We nave a new Traveling task:

Read a book tagged "Diary" at least 10x

Here is the Diary shelf on Goodreads. Please note that only the first 3 pages (plus a few on the 4th page) are tagged at least 10 times.

35559 My Project Hail Mary works for that one. If someone else has a MPG Science Fiction.

35559 Is anyone doing the audio for What the River Knows? The female narrator has an O last name.

Yeah, I can do the N if needed. My Albania book has an N narrator. I should be able to finish it and Project Hail Mary tonight.

35559 Jacqueline wrote: "I found this gem on the shelf today....Dairy Queen (Dairy Queen, #1) by Catherine Gilbert Murdock I will start it tomorrow."

Believe it or not, that gem actually won multiple awards. I gave it 4 stars, back when I was reading a bunch of YA. Although I never did pick up the second book in the series.

35559 If we still need an O when I finish Project Hail Mary I can start my Romania book, Once Burned. I don't have it on the spreadsheet yet because I have a few others I was going to read first. But I can move it up if we need to.

35559 Tara wrote: "If Ashley can use The Tainted Cup for another task we can switch my Whale Eyes there (ALN: Robinson) - since it is a memoir, it's hard to find tasks for it to fit, sorry!"

If The Tainted Cup doesn't work elsewhere, don't worry about Whale Eyes. I imagine we'll get each month for the published in... tasks. And probably more genres. Including Nonfiction and/or Memoir. We can use banked books for those tasks, so it will get used somewhere before the very end!

35559 Jacqueline wrote: "I can cover one of the "O"s in ....pecorino! Reading " The Outsiders "with my sixth graders."

Didn't you say you guys are reading a couple of chapters a day on this one?

We want to finish the spell-out a quickly as possible. If we don't finish before the unknown countdown reaches zero, there is no telling what the mods will do to us!

35559 Tricia wrote: "I finished my mini #2 book, if someone wants to get a new prompt. :)"

We had a little snafu with one of our other books and got a task before we should have. So I've added your book, but the open task is still the same one I posted before.

Open Traveling tasks:
Read a book first published in May of any year
Read a book that is #3 in a series (Or last book in a trilogy)

May 20, 2025 08:32AM

35559 I’ll have Project Hail Mary done this evening for a P.
May 20, 2025 08:27AM

35559 Do we have any books finished after this cheese was thrown? We can’t use any finished before the first cheese.
