Or I could leave Claudius and read The Weekend which is shorter and then focus on the Roman conniving and manipulating. Such an interesting book. Richard, you might like it because it’s basically factual.

I can get onto my Garden mini book and finish it before the one I’m reading now. It’s in the food mini so a lot of slots open there still.

Your visit to Tolstoy’s house reminded me of visiting Chairman Mao’s house in Wuhan, China. They had his pj’s on his bed, and his chopsticks and bowl on a table ready for his breakfast. Quite spartan and austere. He also had an Olympic sized swimming pool built in his gardens because he was a keen swimmer.

Anna K turned into such a pain of a woman I wanted to give her a swift kick and tell her to shape up. It’s such a famous book I expected it to be better. I found the farming stuff quite interesting actually. All that stuff about the workers not wanting to use modern equipment etc. no wonder the whole system broke down.

35559 It dawned on me that the book I'm reading The Great Santini by Pat Conroy (with okra in it several times as well as the bonus vinegar) was made into a movie starring Robert Duvall and Blythe Danner . I thought the character's name was familiar. I'll have to see if I can find it to watch.

35559 Thought it might be. Thank you both.

35559 The Great Santini by Pat Conroy has a dog called Okra. Is that a better mini choice than ‘sky on cover?

35559 A friend loaned me a book that covers a few different tasks. It has rice and the bonus vinegar, has a purple cover and is 3 rd in a series. I’d love to squeeze it in as it’ll be a quick read. Not sure if It will produce a piano or a violin but it might.

Where should it go, do you think?

Okay-- and it fits the E spot of Kat's book

I have a 5th in series but think it would need to replace one of my books, Ragtime. The page count number is fairly easy to find--needs a 3 and 6 or 4 and 7. eg My book Ragtime has 369 pages

I love that series but the third is sad after getting to know Cromwell so well. Gosh a lot of men were called Thomas!

My daughter -in-law and I have very close birthdays so we see a musical each year as our treat, preferably at the Opera House but have been to the Lyric (Cinderella) and the Capitol (Beauty and the Beast). This year was Chicago here in Canberra. Next year Sydney Opera are doing Rent so it's back to the Opera House and champagne in the foyer.

I read the 3rd in the series Dr Thorne in an earlier round. Love Trollope. I think there are about 6 in the series.

35559 I meant to ask, what does this from the new mini mean?
- that features one or more books

35559 Lisa, funny your mind should go there hahaha You're right though, The unzipper is the guy's wife.

35559 And 2 pages later there are the pants—- being unzipped.

Oh! That’s a pain. I can move The Golden House to that slot and hope someone is either wearing pants or runs and pants. They are in NY so chipmunks are reasonably likely, I suppose.

Thanks, Richard, I’ll leave it where it is then. It has violin in it which is a bonus. I doubt whether chipmunk will appear but pants might. Rushdie has a beautiful way with imagery and a big vocabulary.
