35559 I'll be finishing Watcher in the Woods tomorrow. It works for the page count and cave tasks for Echidna. I'll add it to the list and use where you will.

I have a few library books I need to finish that don't fit anything pressing right now, but can start a new audiobook tomorrow. Is anyone working on a book with royalty or a thief?

LOL, I tend to choose my books by their covers. ;)

I finished this am, I'll put it in the brown cover spot.

35559 Question for the group/captains. I'm going to finish Getting Down (Shacking Up, #1.5) by Helena Hunting tomorrow morning. I was going to put in the space for 100-125 p, but does it work for "brown cover"? I'm not sure which would be better?

35559 I still have a few days on The Girl in the Mist so if we want to use Keely's book for some of the boar tasks to get it done sooner, I can save mine for later.

35559 Are we going to get a page on the SS to plan on for the monsters? I know its still 2 days from starting, but I'm getting lost on what books to start/look for.

I'd say go ahead and finish, and I'll just move mine to later in the challenge. I always love a good Kristen Ashley, so I'm good to read, but since you are so close to finished, I'd hate for you to have it lingering on your shelf. :)

I'll just go find something with snow to finish up the boar spots.

35559 I'm still looking -- but I have The Girl in the Mist (Misted Pines #1) by Kristen Ashley that works for 1, 2 and 3 and possibly 4 for boar if you want to save some of those books for other tasks?

I have a shortish one I was going to read by not record -- it will work for Harpies 1 and 2 if that helps.

They are pretty fast on that maze page! :)

35559 I live at 1.7 to 2.0 on my audiobooks -- although I have had it up to 2.5 if I really don't like to book and just need to finish. I do find though that I have to slow it down if I'm listening to it out loud rather than in my earbuds. Must be the distance to my ears. :)

Done. Sorry, I always forget that part on the app. :)

35559 Maddy, one of the books I finished that hasn't been used in the mini is a #1 in series, if you don't want to be tied to that task.
35559 DQ: 18 May - Sugi and Chikako's Hotel for Pets & Between Friends

9) Considering Satoru seems to be quite perceptive overall, do you think he knew about Sugi’s less charitable feelings about him, both in the past and during this visit?
I think he probably had a little bit of a clue, especially after the drunken evening with Sugi. I think he just didn't want to make a big deal about it.

10) So far, the chapters have all been combining Satoru and Nana’s journey with Satoru’s past with several other people, as well as their backgrounds. How do you feel about this interlude (chapter 3.5) focused entirely on the man and his cat? What does it add to the story? It highlights the bond between the 2. I think it was kind of just a guy and his cat until then, but this chapter made it more of a loving, devoted relationship.

11) For the first time, we got a hint of what’s going on with Satoru when the dog said “he smells like he isn’t going to make it” in chapter 3, and this came up again in chapter 3.5. So it sounds like Satoru is ill… was that your prediction for question 4? Yes. Although the fact that this book has multiple reviews and people talking about it making them cry probably had a good bit to do with my prediction.

12) Squabbles between cats and dogs were really present in these sections. So: Are you a cat person or a dog person or both (or neither)? I love both, but only have a dog right now as he is a jealous pet and will allow no others in the house. :)
35559 DQ: 17 May - The Unsentimental Farmer

5) I really like reading the cat's thoughts. It can be quite funny. Do you think these are convincing cat thoughts?
TBH the cat's thoughts are the only ones I'm really feeling right now. He seems very cat-like to me. :)

6) In this chapter we are introduced to Yoshimine, another potential owner for our cat. What do you think of him and his backstory? Does no one in Japan have happy families???

7) Do you think Yoshimine would have been a good owner for Nana ? He would have been a fine owner, but probably not a loving owner.

8) Yoshimine has already a kitten called Chatran, and Satoru makes fun of him for naming his cat with such a cliché name. What is for you the most cliché cat name(s)? In french it is quite common to call a cat Chaussette (meaning sock), Mistigri or Felix (actually a cat food brand). Kitty. :P
35559 DQs 16 May: Prologue - The Husband Without a Wife

1. How are you liking the way the story is written with its alternating POVs ? Is there a POV you prefer ?

I like the switches, although I have to admit losing track of who's POV we have at times. I do find though that Nana has a pretty distinctive voice. :)

2. Through the flashbacks we get to know Satoru's personality a bit more. What do you make of him so far ? What did you think about his way of helping his friend Kosuke? He seems like a pretty big hearted guy -- although his plans as a child were a little ill conceived. I'm guessing there is a pretty big problem behind his rehoming of Nana.

3. Talking about Kosuke, what's up with his parents ? It seemed to me that Kosuke was genuinely convinced that his father would agree to keep the cat (Hachi). What did you think about his backstory ? I found it pretty sad. Especially given how it had continued to play into his adulthood.

4. Why do you think Satoru can't take care of Nana anymore ? I'm guessing he's sick. I just don't see him giving up his cat for any other reason.

35559 Since rules change depending on challenges/groups -- for page numbers are we using the version we read, or the default? I'm assuming what we read, but want to confirm.

35559 I have The Travelling Cat Chronicles checked out and ready to go on the 15th. :) I have my name put in at the library for The Book of Cold Cases, but I'm about 80th on the list, so not sure I will get it in time.

We only have the 2 weeks in May for the mini?

35559 Hello Team!

I'm Stacey. I think I've been doing Tower Teams for about 5 rounds so far? It was my gateway challenge when I first discovered GR and its probably still my favorite.

I live in North Carolina in the States with my dog. Normally I work FT as a physical therapist, but will be off work following some simple surgery for the next month, so I should get some good reading done for at least the first 2 weeks of the challenge. :)

Romance is my go to, but really I enjoy pretty much anything that has a good story. The only genres I really struggle with are cozy mysteries and high fantasy. I have sorted all my longish TBR list books into a shelf, and will try to read as many as I can. Also will keep an eye out for the BOMs. Can't wait to start!

ETA: my list is correct.
